Sorry - just thought of another question. Do any of you experienced people with dogs of both genders think that there are any gender differences in labradors? We were thinking of getting a bitch this time, and I wondered whether bitches are (generally speaking) any different?
i was advised that dogs are more loyal, but I have owned both a dog and a bitch (she was a lab cross) and I don't think there is any massive difference, but I am just going off two experiences which isn't much to base that on.

Thanks! I suspect personality of the dog is more important than gender!
Yep! I have one of each and while Luna and I roll our eyes and say 'BOYS' quite a lot when Tucker does certain behaviours he really isn't too different to her in most ways!
Do consider looking at rescue labs who are slightly older as you'll be able to get a taster of their temperament by spending some time with them pre-adopting and get an idea of how Loki interacts with them. I knew straight away that things would work between Luna and Tucker because of the way she behaved around him on meeting. Their relationship development is fascinating to watch! I knew I wanted a lively dog happy to switch on and off as appropriate and I was able to find that in a fantastic 13month old pup - temperament and personality was definitely more important to me than gender.
