I've had similar comments when I was out with Bailey (big lurcher), Bear (big collie) and Flora (American Bulldog) and they've all been perfectly under control and walking calmly beside me and some twonk would go "who is walking who??" and I'd just go " isn't it obvious??"
And we are also owners of mental-case not-white fings and because we know that they are as bonkers at the end of a walk as they are before, during and 5 minutes later they are kept under strict control and go straight back on lead if they are making a nuisance of themselves. No way would I ever have made such a comment to someone in your position, Laura, if it had been one/both of the pups causing the problem your little white fing did and it makes me very cross when people treat their little dogs by a different set of standards to those they apply to big dogs

Thing is I have mental non-white non-small fings that when excited would've done exactly the same as the little white fing so I am generally sympathetic as we all get caught out every now and again... I am sorry sorry sorry though, run to grab them, apologise lots and don't think to comment on the other person or their dog unless it is 'WOW what a lovely dog, so sorry we disturbed you and caused chaos...'
I think she was generally confused by my lack of comment to her comment. I like to prove comments like that wrong by walking off with 2 well-behaved labs trotting besides me on loose leashes by the side of a busy road! Sometimes actions speak louder than words and maybe having her silly words ring in her ears all the way home will make her think of something better to say next time.
She was so long with her dog out of sight that I did have time to consider walking over, picking up her dog and walking out the field and off! I HATE my dogs being out of sight!

Absolutely Laura couldn't agree more.
Glad to hear your two are doing well though.
