I am thinking of buying Barney and Amber each a piece of antler to chew on as part of their Christmas present.

Just wondering if anyone on here is still feeding them to their dogs, what their experience has been and where would be the best place to buy them from?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not one of mine liked them, I even offered it to the puppies and they are not interested either, they love bones though Smile

Yes, deer antlers. That is a pity Jac - I believe they are reasonably expensive. Perhaps I would do better to just buy one and see what happens.

I bought mine from Big Dog World and although Pen doesn't chew it every day, she does get it out most days and has a good half an hour chew on it a time. Pen is a determined chewer, and it has certainly lasted, so I would recommend them, but it's not like say a hide chew, where she will sit and chew it from start to finish. We have tried lots of different chews, latest being the sweet potato that is dried (Dr Chew), these lasted seconds with Pen. She did love the Ziwi Peak Deer's foot (not a pretty sight... Confused ) but this gave her the runs, although she did LOVE it.
I liked the natural aspect of the antlers, but it seems they don't suit all.
Worth a try I think Very Happy

Charlie's is gathering dust at the bottom of her toy box Shocked She did give it a good chew initially but soon lost interest. They are also smaller than you think so you do need to get a large one.

Mine are really loving them. There's usually someone having a good old gnaw.

And having gone mad and bought them one each, it seems they only ever want the one that someone else has got. Mad

Still - at least they'll last for ages that way Very Happy

I can just imagine that Laughing

Thank you Lisa - I will go for large ones then.

I don't think I could face the Ziwi Peak Deer's foot, and the sweet potato chews sound good but probably wouldn't last long with Barney and Amber either.
