.... today a shot pheasant landed on my car and broke the visor, and poor Barney had a battle with an injured but running HUGE **** Pheasant. Glad to say Barney won and the bird was despatched quickly. And also glad to say it didn't put my dog off picking up more birds afterwards
I guess that's why people say:
1. don't park your car too close to the Guns
and
2. don't send young, inexperienced dogs after runners for fear of putting them off for life!
Poor Barney...just a scratch.....Molly flushed a few in our field today and cornered one, she got a nasty gash on her nose and a very big lesson learned.

Geez it must have landed with a heck of a thud to break that visor off, they are made of strong plastic.
Good to hear Barney wasn`t badly hurt although that ear looks sore, I imagine the real test may come on the next shoot if he gets another runner that bounces off a car
Oh poor chap.
I bet you have a fun chat with your insurance company. We had a pheasant go through the front windscreen of our guns bus once! It smashed the windscreen! (we too always told everyone not to park close and never front on to a drive! ). The phonecall by my husband to the insurance company was quite funny 'and how did this happen sir?'.......
