.... today a shot pheasant landed on my car and broke the visor, and poor Barney had a battle with an injured but running HUGE **** Pheasant. Glad to say Barney won and the bird was despatched quickly. And also glad to say it didn't put my dog off picking up more birds afterwards Wink

I guess that's why people say:
1. don't park your car too close to the Guns
and
2. don't send young, inexperienced dogs after runners for fear of putting them off for life!

Wink

Oh no! Happy to hear your Barney won the pheasant! Very Happy

My youngster had a splendid live lesson by her dam how to fetch a runner at a recent shoot...

She, the youngster seems to be a very smart pupil! Very Happy

Confused Poor Barney...just a scratch.....Molly flushed a few in our field today and cornered one, she got a nasty gash on her nose and a very big lesson learned.

Ouch, hope Barney's ear heals quickly and your car's easily fixed.

Glad Barney wasn't put off and continued to enjoy himself

xx

Geez it must have landed with a heck of a thud to break that visor off, they are made of strong plastic.

Good to hear Barney wasn`t badly hurt although that ear looks sore, I imagine the real test may come on the next shoot if he gets another runner that bounces off a car Laughing

The Gun who shot the bird that hit my car was very humble.... Someone told me their whole windscreen got shattered by a bird once!

Barney doesn't seem to care about his ear bless him. He's feet up on the sofa snoring and no doubt dreaming about the one that nearly got away

Wink

Oh poor chap.
I bet you have a fun chat with your insurance company. We had a pheasant go through the front windscreen of our guns bus once! It smashed the windscreen! (we too always told everyone not to park close and never front on to a drive! Wink ). The phonecall by my husband to the insurance company was quite funny 'and how did this happen sir?'....... Laughing
