I got Luna instead of a Toller as 'a lab is an easier first-owner dog'... hmmmmmm! Having compared my Luna with Tollers since I think I got a black one!!!
They make great agility dogs! Hope this little one has a Toller experienced home very quickly x
I've been in contact with the toller rescue people and they've already been working to help Jemima with finding the best home for this boy
heres what the toller rescue have said
"Ben is approximately 1 years old and will be arriving from rural Ireland on Thursday. He is not coping well in kennels and is very "stressy". He has been destroying his bedding and throwing his bowls around in the kennels. He is young, male, neutered, great with other dogs, not good with hens, good recall, fully vax'd. He would be better suited to someone with experience of Tollers who preferably work their dog in a discipline e.g. gundog, agility, obedience etc.
From what has been said, we believe him to be a purebred Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever but without meeting him it is always difficult to say, but regardless of whether he is 100 purebred or a cross, we would like to find him a lovely home.
Black Retriever X Rescue will be overseeing his placement/homechecks/follow-up etc. and have asked for our assistance in finding this lovely lad a great home. If you think you might be able to assist, can you please make contact with me or Black x Retriever rescue urgently. Thanks"
Good luck to him. I saw the Blue Cross mention that it has a few Tollers up for rehoming at the moment too. They are already safe in rescue, but thought I'd mention them in case anyone knows of someone suitable who is looking to adopt one. They're in Bromsgrove. Gorgeous dogs.
Lovely Ben the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever arrived with us just over two weeks ago and has proved to be a real star - just perfect really; a young, active, biddable, easy boy who has settled really well with foster dad Duncan in Surrey.
Ben is now more than ready to go to his forever home and we're looking for, ideally, an active country home with another dog (or lots of opportunities to socialise). He is housetrained, settles well in the house (and can be left for a couple of hours). He is terrific with everyone (and children); lead-trained; good recall off-lead, and really great (and playful) with other dogs. His only blip is that he has ducked underneath the fence a couple of times (although not gone far) so you will need to have a properly secure garden.
If you are interested in Ben, please read up on this interesting breed and if you think you can offer him a lovely home, please get in touch asap!
Ben is about a year old, neutered, fully vaccinated, wormed and flea-treated. The adoption fee for this fab fella is £180 (£150 + VAT).
