I always donate a 15kg bag of dog food to my local dogs home. I try to do this twice a year.
Every little helps. (in the supermarket the dogs home has a collection box for supplies...so I try to put something in there too!).
Think of the woofs everyone!

That is a lovely offer. Best thing to do is decide do you want to foster a specific breed (in which case find out which is the nearest rescue for the breed) or any breed (in which case your local general rescue) and ask them. Expect to have a full homecheck, Some fosters can stay for a long time so be honest with the rescue about whether you are offering a respite break for the dog or a foster until it finds a home however long that is. It helps if the fosterer provides the food, but details like that need to be sorted before you take a dog in. Think of all the things that may be needed (bedding, bowls etc) so you can arrange with the rescue what you will have ready and what they may be able to lend you. Also be prepared for a dog who is super excited to be getting out of the kennels! We recently rehomed a quiet 9 year old dog who had lived with an elderly owner to a new elderly owner - well, the dog is back with us as although the match seemed good on the way he was with the first owner and with us when he got to the new home he decided that actually he was going to demand 3 long walks a day, playtime every half hour, he pretended he only understood Welsh (his old owner, the kennels, the transporter and I all used English when we talked to him with no problem - in fact the old owner did not even speak Welsh!!) - so a change of scenery can bring out a completely different side to a dog!
Good luck, enjoy it, and thank you on behalf of the dogs you will help.
