Not sure if this should be in breeding or here
But, here goes, Trudy (pregnant foster) has about 10days to go and is seriously hungry, I have started giving her 4 smaller meals now but tonight she has a runny bum again!! She is on Nature Diet Puppy/junior with some Delta puppy kibble and a little Harringtons. She came to us on Chappie and her tum settled fine and has been ok for the last few days til now. I am putting a dollop of Prokolin+ with her food. Any suggestions please or is this normal during the later stages of pregnancy!!
She is fine in her self!
TIA

Don't worry all sorts of hoormonal changes are occuring, PLUS she is having quite a mix of food there, it might be as well at the minute to take one of those and just feed that as they are all complete foods.... Prokolin is OK at this stage but, to be honest, the runs is not unusual. Just make sure she keeps her liquid intake up.
Its probably hormones/squished tummy/mix of foods/increase of food and a mix and match of all those four.

Just as an aside if all else fails go back to the Chappie with some supplements added. I have had to do that in the past with a bitch who had a seriously runny tum. It became more important that she ate and it stayed inside her, than what she ate if that makes sense.
MT are keen for me to use Delta, but non of my fosters have tolerated it very well! She is fine on ND with a little Harringtons added. Must she have ONLY puppy food?
If I put her back on Chappie (as a last resort) what supplements should I add.
If you don't use the Delta, will they not pay for a different brand if you say its not agreeing with her and hasn't agreed with your previous dogs? Or is it stubbornly that (Delta) or nothing (and yu have to fork out?)
If I were you, i'd take the three foods you have her on and wean one out for 2 days at a time and see which it is that doesn't agree IF its the food at all...

Try what Di says first the Chappie is a last resort because you mentioned that she was fine on it in the past so you have it in your store cupboard to get out if necessary. The easiest way is to just combine it with Nutrolac so she gets the right amount of calcium etc. (but not too much).
Darcy doesn't always tolerate Puppy food very well so I have found ways around it. At the moment she is on Nature's Diet with a little Skinners F & T Puppy added (and I gradually increase the amount) with as much Nutrolac as she wants.
I hate in whelp, or whelped bitches having the runs and do everything I can to control it. I can't think of anything worse than looking after a litter of pups with all the feeding involved and having the runs at the same time. But then maybe I humanise these things a little too much.
For me if she isn't having any sort of puppy food (which is where she would get calcium from) then yes I would give her Nutrolac.
She is close to whelping isn't she? I worry about eclampsia too much to not provide any calcium. Although its more important after whelping than before.
Her temp is still normal, vulva normal, tummy HUGE, nipples getting a bit bigger and a little pendulas.
Got her on 5-6 tiny meals a day Nature Diet (puppy) and puppy kibble. today she has a very runny bum! Is this significant or too much protein, have been advised to cut out the puppy kibble and give her something else. Any suggestions please, She is still bouncy, waggy and hungry!!
