Hi Everyone,
My name is Margaret, but people online call me Marge, mostly because of my surname
I have a 9 1/2 year old choccie lab called Jack. He is an ex gun dog who went blind through PRA, so came to live with me, my husband Keith and our other dog, a cream lurcher called Cherry. (also approx 9 yrs old).
They have got on fantastically well since day one and are a pleasure to live with.
I know one person on here, and maybe more, but hope to get to know you all a little better as time goes on.

Hi Mary,
Jack copes very well with his blindness. He is not in any pain, so gets on with doing as much as he can. We let him do as much for himself as possible, and try and watch out for any dangers outdoors. We have taught him left, right, step, up, down etc and most importantly, STOP! The louder we say it, the quicker he stops. Very useful if he is trundling towards a tree or other obstacle
Cherry helps, hinders and takes advantage in varying degrees, bless her. If he drops food and moves away, she will most likely pinch it from under his nose! But she will sometimes guide him round corners, or away from walls.
Jack loves to retrieve in water, and will bring out huge rocks and logs etc. In order to save his teeth from destruction, we bought a floating dummy and attached bells and a line. He can hear the direction it is thrown and we can get it back if needed.
he is our first lab and he is a very happy chap.
