Hello and welcome to Lf.My chocolate girl is very laid back, she is almost horizontal. So there is no truth in chocolates being hyper anymore than yellow or black.

My mum has the most beautiful chocolate lab. She's so affectionate and all she want's to do is literally 'kiss' other dogs by licking them all over their faces which is sometimes not appreciated!!!

She is truly a wonderful dog. My mother's previous chocolate lab was very different. Very hyperactive (still lovely though).

I totally agree that a lab is a lab and they way you bring them up is so important. Id say that if your yellow lab is calm hopefully these good vibes will rub off on your pup too. However this doesn't always happen.

personally i love all labs but i do have a soft spot for the chocolate ones.

But why not another yellow? (Labradors are yellow by the way, NEVER golden! This is something which dates back to 1906 when the Labrador was first accepted as a breed by the Kennel Club. At that time these was another breed seeking acceptance from the KC, the Golden Retriever, and the KC, realising the confusion which would be caused by having both a Golden Retriever and a golden Labrador Retriever mad it a condition of membership that the Labrador would hence forth be yellow!) The thing is, all Labradors are different. I've always had yellows and they are all characters in their own right.

Wouldn't be without my little choccie girl. She is a delight!
I also have a yellow and black, and they can all be a bit loopy at times, but all as lovely as each other. Smile

Hello and welcome by the way. Smile Smile

Another yellow would just be awkward when something was to happen to Duke. Sorry to sound morbid as it will devastate us all the day that comes! Therefore another yellow wouldn't be fair on any of us! I'm not ruling it out in the future just how I feel at the moment!
Would like a different colour and chocolate is a preference of mine!

Lets just hope the house buying process goes smoothly now!

Thanks so much for all your advice! xxx
