Last Thursday i ran in the URC all aged stake at Lydney, Glos. Nothing fantastic to report, we had a cracking 1st retrieve and then failed on a bird that fell beyond a hedge and a track. Twist was out of sight for some time and this is where it gets a bit interesting. Today through the post i get a speeding ticket. 44mph in a 30mph zone. Again nothing remarkable except the offence happened at about the time I was handling my dog at the trial and the offence was 90 MILES AWAY in Tamworth. Could it be my dog is so fast she made it to Tamworth still doing 44mph and back again? Now that would be clever, but not as clever as just finding the bird in the hedge!
That's reminded me of something that happened in Yorkshire last year.A mobile speed camera vehicle parked/hidden near the M1(?) picked up a signal of a vehicle speeding at 600 mph. This caused the speed camera to jam.The speed camera had picked up a low flying jet fighter!! The local Constabulary wrote a letter of complaint to the nearby RAF Base. The RAF Base replied that it was fortunate that the pilot of the fighter had reacted quickly and over-ridden the air to ground missile launcher,as the missile had locked in on the signal from the Speed camera vehicle !!

I hope you are going to contest it. Do you have a witness who can testify that you were at the dog trials? I think you can ask for a copy of the photograph to prove your innocense too.
It is possibly a typing error or possibly someone using your registration number illegally (my friend's OH once had this and it took months for the police to track down the other one).
LOL thats funny, hope you`ve pointed out to Twist that she doesn`t have to go 90 miles to find a bird
Seriously though, I hope you`ll be able to successfully appeal the fine or whatever they`ve given you, I`d be asking for the pic to check the registration on the car too, I thought that was how they did it, assuming it was done by a camera.
My mum had somthing like this through the post. She got a ticket while she was off work with a broken arm so couldnt drive, but the car had been involved in a hit and run down south and caught speeding on the M25, we live in Warrington Cheshire, there was even a picture off mums reg but it was on a blue van not a silver little car. She managed to sort it with the police as she could prove where she was, but her insurance had been contacted over the hit and run so they tried to put up her insurance when it came to renew it as they said shed lost her no clams due to the accident. She did get it sorted in the end but it was a worrying time for her.
The police should surely have known the registration on the van wasn`t for that vehicle, they only had to check with the DVLA!!, as for the ins co that doesn`t surprise me in the least, again though the police should have gone to them and explained what happened.
