Bran's taking his bronze test next Sunday and I *know* that he can do everything that he needs to pass. Whether he'll do it on the day, who knows but there are 2 parts of the test that have me a little worried and I was wondering if anyone could advise.
During the grooming and the examination of the dog, Bran tends to get all silly about receiving focussed attention and will roll on his back with his legs in the air going "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr" He has always done this when I groom him and obviously it's just been a minor inconvenience to spend the time I'd put aside for grooming laughing at him instead I know they aren't supposed to mouth the brush or your hands or shown any aggression during the grooming and handling, but what about silly back wiggling and rarrring?
During today's class, I did manage to get him to stay in a 'stand' for a short while, but then it was back to drop and roll

Does he still roll if you do his neck, shoulders, legs etc? If his actions are obviously not aggressive you should be ok, just stand him up again and start where you left off or brush his belly instead and pretend that is what you intended. The aim of the exercise is to show that you can handle your dog without any aggression issues so I think it would be a harsh tester who failed you for a dog not standing still.
I would imagine the examiner should know the difference between and aggressive noise and one that means the dog is enjoying and making the most of whats being done to him.
As Pam says i doubt Bran will be penalised because he doesn`t stand completely still for his grooming.
Phew! That's a relief! It is definitely not aggressive, it's just what Bran does - occasioanlly you can almost literally watch his brain fall out of his ear and then he drops to the floor or sofa and rolls and rarrrrrrrrs
If I put him in a 'stand' and start grooming anywhere on his body he drops and rolls. I tend to have to work with it if he *really* needs grooming and have to hoist him over on to his other side when I'm done with one side

Well Luna did similar and passed!!! I think I may have had a toy to stuff in her mouth while I brushed her which was ok too. I think so long as they aren't mouthing you or the brush while you groom them it'd be ok to finish the session with a play! It's all about it being a pleasurable experience! You can check and groom Bran as much as he needs to be so you should be fine! And if after him having a bit of fun you can get him back up and being groomed again you'll be fine!
Tucker's last lesson included him flopping back onto me with 4 legs in the air, dozing off to sleep while I checked his underneath and paws for lumps and bumps! Trainers stood there laughing at him and apologised to him for making him get up to do some more loose lead walking! Where did he learn to be such a cuddle-monster.....!!!!
