Posted: Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:22 am Post subject: Riversway Apollo - Fife - my dog of a lifetime (response p5)
This morning I had to give the hardest gift that any dog owner has to give, and give my beloved Fife a ticket to Rainbow Bridge. He was 12 ˝ years old, and had been living with cancer for a long time. Thankfully the deterioration was in a matter of 48 hours, and I can truthfully know that he was happy until the end.
All our dogs are special, but some are more special than others. Fife was truly my dog of a lifetime. We had so much fun together, on the shoot, at working tests, and he introduced me to agility. The pair of us got the agility bug well and truly, and we had so much fun together - I cannot begin to recite it all. Just last week he ran in the veteran class at Agility, and bounced round with such a spark in his eye, LOVING it.
Thankfully Fife’s legacy lives on through his offspring, and his son Oak is a true clone of Fife, which will help me through this grief. There will never be another Fife, but his heritage lives on.
Rest in peace my darling boy, and play with Tarka at the bridge. I love you both so much.

I`m so sorry Katy, Fife was a lovely boy, he was happy right to the end, that decision is always the hardest but as you say its the final act of love we can give them, my thoughts are with you.
