John (EJW) contacted me a little while ago now to ask whether I could organise some sugar beet training in deepest darkest Norfolk and as we have had use of hectares of the stuff on the farm where I pick up this year it was fairly easy to organise. I twisted Craig Horwill's arm to take the session and organised it was...............
It was a good afternoon in testing conditions in the tail end of hurricane Katia but the scenting conditions were absolutely ideal. Lovely to actually meet John and Heather at long last and Acer, Rowan and Honey of course, although I did feel as though I knew them already.
When we finished the session John very kindly got his camera out and took some shots of my dogs.

A couple of photos of Folly too:
Really enjoyed the company and hope we can do it again one day. Oh and I can definitely confirm that I will never be carrying a camera of that size and weight around with me when training and picking up but I love the results . Thank you John.
The ears were a problem Jules as the wind was so strong that day.
Ahem, clears throat, I actually haven't done anything at all with Folly Mary, as you get more dogs you kind of leave it all longer and longer. I know she retrieves and I just make sure she has "good manners".
Having said that she had her first squab yesterday beating all the adult dogs to it. Thankfully I managed to get the other eight to sit on the stop whistle while I called her in to deliver it to hand. I don't think there will be any problems with Folly pup retrieving its all in the genes .
That sounds good Jill, she`s had the feel of feathers in her mouth and I bet she was excited she beat all the adults to it too, amazing that they all sat on a whistle too!, but thats what they`ve been trained to do of course, has to be sooo tempting to ignore and try to take the squab off the youngster
