I recieved Alfie's annual renewal today and can't believe its gone up to £500 Shocked I'll be recieving Billy's in a week or 2 and i bet his is almost the same so £1000 for 2 dogs Shocked Its just going up and up, i soon won't be able to afford it Sad

Has anyone elses gone up a huge amount without making a claim?

I just don't know how they can justify it Sad I really can't cancel it though as i could never afford a huge bill and i'd feel terrible if one of them needed a major op and i couldn't pay to make them better Crying or Very sad

Shop around!! I went to Saisbury's for my two and it's less about £35 per month for them...plus I get Nectar points Smile

Have a look on some comparison sites..I think M&S tend to be expensive but there are plenty of other providers who will do a better price. Alternatively, give them a ring and say that if they don't reduce he price you'll leave...a little haggling never hurt anyone.

If only i could change but Alfie has ear problems although i will have to query it with them because it says that for ongoing treatments you need to claim every 3-6 months but i haven't made a claim for over a year for his ears but thats because i've tried not to claim for all the ear cleaner and anti biotics in the hope it would keep the premium down Rolling Eyes but i'm wondering if they would still pay out for his ears if he needs anything else doing to them in future coz if not then i might aswell change Confused

If you've not had to make any major claims since taking out the policy, perhaps now's the time to do some shopping around. Flora's M&S policy rocketed up this year and, despite claims for hip dysplasia, epilepsy and heart related issues, I was going to cancel the policy with them and find a better deal elsewhere because even with the existing condition exclusions it was going to work out much cheaper. Sadly, she died just before the policy renewed so it didn't matter in the end anyway Sad

Bran is with AXA and his policy is £20 pm and that's with ongoing claims for elbow dysplasia Very Happy

Both mine have gone up to £500 each with M&S.
I don't mind for Charlie as we've claimed well over £25,000 from them but I haven't made a claim for Dudley for over 2 yars so I rang them up to ask why.
I was told it was because vet fees had gone up loads!!

I thought they were just 'punishing' me because of all my claims for Charlie but it seems like that's the normal price now

I left M&S a couple of years ago when my Pointer's policy doubled in price. He has had quite a few claims, allergies, kennel cough/lungworm, ears, all of which I will no longer be able to claim for but I felt I had to cut my loses and go elsewhere. Both my dogs are now with AXA, an almost identical policy to M&S but far far cheaper and it only went up a few pounds, and in the Labs case pence, at renewal so well pleased.

I do believe M&S are trying to price themselves out of the market. Sad

least i'm not the only one to be paying so much, like you i wouldn't mind if i had claimed thousands.

I don't mind paying it but it does seem excessive and i hate being conned when others are paying less for almost the same cover Confused hmmm

I think some vets charge more if an animal is insured, much the same as some garages do for claims on vehicles ins co`s have picked up on it and its us that ends up paying more.

Eventually these companies will price themselves out of the market as no one will be able to afford to insure their animals.

M&S were very good when they first started and were underwrittem by Axa, then they stopped and prices have rocketed since.

Axa does seem to be the most reasonable about at the moment imo.
