Sad Poor GIRL I am afraid there are always this sort of people in the world he probably now costs in vet bills ect I doubt he would be bothered if owners worked full time at his age a walk and comfy bed and food what that old GIRL needs sounds like an excuse.

Poor girl Sad

I got the link before it was removed. Have upgraded my Preloved membership and sent him a polite message. If anyone else does contact him, please stay polite as not everyone realises the downside to these "free to good home" ads.

How can people do this? Easily - they do it every day. All over the country. All over the world. Any breed, any age, any species for that matter. Just look at some of the rescue sites and see how full to bursting they are. Those dogs were all in a home at some point.

If you want to worry particularly about the older dogs, take a look at the Oldies Club website as a start. Dogs much much older than 9 years who have been in their homes since they were puppies are given up for all sorts of reasons. Of course some of them are genuine, but there are also dogs who don't match the furniture any more, aren't happy with the children/grandchildren arriving, are costing more in vets bills, are just too much trouble now.

Yes, these ads are heartbreaking, but there are dozens of them in every single free ad paper/website and the rescues hear this sort of stuff all the time. It is utterly tragic but it happens every single day and is getting worse Sad

Yep. No time, work commitments, relocations, baby on the way, snapping at children. Blah, blah, blah. Over and over and over again. They've all got their excuses, and their justifications (they're different to all the other people getting rid of their pets, don't you know...)

Disposable commodities, that's what dogs are to a lot of people.

Every hour of every day. 365 days a year these ads are posted, not only Labradors but other popular breeds.

I am often contacted about these dogs, I have even emailed or phoned a few of the advertisers, some are lovely and don't realise there is a rescue options, others give you abuse.

What really needs to happen is for these site to close down or not allow adverts for animals.
