They had a show on in Northumberland Park on Saturday - the K9 club is exactly the same as the Hillheads ones so Poppy can do bronze silver and gold awards there as well Smile

They were super helpful with us and there are 2 lab puppies in this mornings class so should be fun!

Will let you know how we get on.

Believe me, I know what it is like to have a headstrong pup. Charlie was one, and he was my first dog too. I don't recall his nipping phase lasting too long, and it was mainly clothing and kids toys that bit the dust, but he was hard work just the same.

He was always a very full-on character, and still can be now at the age of 7. He was never at all the stereotypical soft, dappy labrador puppy. I sometimes wondered what on earth I had done, especially as I had a toddler daughter at the time. Charlie will always be a flawed and stubborn sod, and not the most obedient, but he is also now the most loyal friend I have ever had. He regularly shadows me around the house, and always wants to at least know where I am.

It is easy to say when you have come through it and out the other side, but perseverance is key, and there is help out there if needed.

Poppy in the last week seems to have just grown up loads. Her behaviour in the house is unbelievable compared to what it was just a couple of weeks ago. She is still overly excited when we go out and she sees other dogs but she is still young and the fact that she has changed so much in the house is an absolute god send!
i still think we have a headstrong pup here but I also feel so much more confident in handling her. She just follows me round the house everywhere now and lies at my feet when I am working and the other day dragged her bed over to where I was sitting and lay on her bed at my feet.
It is like having a different puppy!

I just hope that any puppy owners that went through what we went through just read this and realise that yes you have to be strong, persevere and if need be, be tough but the end result is worth it.

I'm so glad to read things like this as we are going through days where I wonder what the hell was I thinking! I have to keep telling myself it WILL get better, just takes time and sometimes I don't feel like I can survive any longer! lol
But by reading as much as I can and hopefully starting classes I'm hoping to feel even more improvement Very Happy
