Ben is 13 years and needs to find his forever home

Please join Ben's facebook group and help to find him a home
https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/groups/244726572239052/

We are currently fostering Ben here in Mid bedfordshire

anyone who is interested in Ben please contact LRRSE
sue birmingham 0208 408 1214
sue.birmingham@blueyonder.co.uk

Ben has been here 1 week now

When he arrived he didn't appear to have much interest in anything and i had
to put his food in between his paws while he laid down to eat it :0(

1 week on and Ben gets up and barks once when he hears me getting his food
ready

Ben is a young dog in an old body.......... he wanted to chase after the
tennis ball this evening but his legs just wouldn't let him do it..... so he
shuffled from side to side and i managed to aim it right into his mouth :0)
mack and moose were tearing about after it so he wouldn't have had a hope of
getting it otherwise.

Ben had a go at humping mack ........ it was very funny as he
ended up sitting down behind mack humping away.

Ben went back to where zara (mums beagle) had a wee today so he could mark over
it.......... he's certainly not past it and has an awful lot to give still
:0)

His tail is wagging all the time now and he is quite excited to see us in
the morning and when we come back in from being out.

Exercise........ Ben is now capable of a 20 minute walk during the day and
then a 10 -15 min walk in the evening....... it takes him a little while to
stop panting after exercise but he is a very large dog and he does have to
put an awful lot of effort into his walks.

He is great with all the dogs here and they all seem to like
him.........apart from moose who growls every time he comes near ( he must
of known he was a humper !! in his younger years) ;0)

Ben gets up from lying down a lot quicker than he did last week........ I
was going to bath him today but simply ran out of time....... can't wait to
get all that undercoat out it is so thick around his neck..... i think
he'll lose a couple of kgs in fur when i do bath him.

He is a huge Labrador and much bigger than any of ours......... really is a
giant chocolate bear :0)

Ben is excellent with my boys 10 & 12..... they have both walked him up the
field and he was happy to go with them.... he doesn't need a lead put there
he simply couldn't run off even if he wanted to.

He doesn't appear to be in any pain so i hope the metacam 3.5 dose he is
having each morning on his breakfast is working for him.

We would love to see Ben in a home really soon.......... he has so much
love to give and is a real character.....

His hearing and sight appear to be good and he is not as pudgy as i first
thought..... just Very Large indeed..... he could probably do with losing
about 8kg - 10kg... but i'm sure any weight lose will make him feel so much
better and help the mobility in his legs.

He's just gorgeous and I'm sure has a whole lot of love still to give a new family, given the chance. Sounds like a lovely old character, bless him.

What a gorgeous boy love4

Do you know if LRRSE have their older dogs posted on the Oldies Club website? If not, it might be worth asking if it can be arranged as the OC are lot are generally quite a helpful bunch Wink and targetting people who are specifically looking for an older dog can only help Very Happy

Good luck Ben Smile

We have listed LRRSE dogs on the OC site previously, but don't have any on there at the mo, that I could find.

Sorry to butt in, but could you let the lady know about Oldies Club please? We have our own dogs in foster homes around the UK, but also list older dogs (aged 7+) for many other UK rescues. You can see the dogs looking for homes on our site: http://www.oldies.org.uk/

Rehoming policies etc. vary depending on the rescue and for Oldies Club at least, we need people to be able to access the internet (even via a relative/friend) to see the dogs on our site and to travel to the foster home following a successful home visit Smile
