Barbara, this is not a recent thread, Sarah and Jenson are currently under my care and doing very well.

As an aside, APDT trainers can use whatever training tools they want to. There is no 'ban' on equipment.

Maybe, but the APDT is one of various members of the Welfare in Dog Training/Dog Welfare campaign, which has spoken out against the use of prong collars. I would hope that the APDT would at least contact the trainer concerned, if they are a member of the organisation, if reported. I would certainly report them if it were me.

I checked with the APDT about the prong collar issue and have been informed that the use of prong, shock and choke collars by its members, is prohibited, and that its members must adhere to its Code of Practice, which can be found here:
http://www.apdt.co.uk/about_APDT.asp

caroldylan, I'm not sure which training organisation you meant in your post, but if it was the APDT, please report the trainer to the APDT asap.
