Just pondering here..

Zanna is on day 16 of her first season.
I have an entire male here who is more than capable of telling when Brooke is ready for mating, in fact for 5 days or so it has to be like colditz around here, always 2 doors between them, he goes off his food, loses weight with his pacing and his energy levels and howling .... you get the picture. (I won't castrate him as he is a bit of a mummy's boy and not the most confident little dog, and I dread to think what he would be like without his little bit of testosterone. Keeping them seperate is not a problem, feel like I have to explain that bit )Then he switches off, couldn't care less, and back to his happy self.

Zanna has not come into his radar yet, he has not even noticed. Obviously they are never unsupervised or left together , but I am just curious if any of you with entire males and females have noticed a lack of interest on a first season?

I know day 16 could be early days yet, but just pondering how many girls first season are not "proper seasons".
If she were going to be spayed I would be definitely letting her have a second season. I have never had an entire male around on a first season before and was just curious?

I have to admit Jac I always consider a first season not to be a real full blown season and I warn people about that when they have pups as they sometimes say oh we didn't have a problem after the first season. When, in fact, they have one hell of a problem from season two onwards.

I have also noticed my males are not so interested in a youngster when she is having her first season. So all of what you say sounds about normal to me.

I've been pondering a similar question about Skye. We have an entire male here, in Rebel, who is nearly 12 months. Skye came into season (a month ago) and he was'nt interested at any time.

Skye was on her 2nd season. Now Sasha my 11 year old bitch was frantically trying to mount her around days 8-12 Confused

Weird Laughing

Thanks Jill Very Happy

Nice to hear that all seems normal Smile

They are laying on the rug by my feet right now, she is trying to play with him in a flirty way and he just seems quite irritated by her presence Laughing

The only mounting that goes on around here is from randy Zanna, seem to have done nothing but pull her off dogs, kids, floor mops for the last fortnight Rolling Eyes Laughing

At least Jenson only tries his luck with Brooke !
