Now, before anyone jumps on me, or says I am breeding for money, or any of the normal insults, as having two litters at the same time, (I do remember the comment)
I bred Hattie, from my very successful litter from Georgie, a Mardas, Amberstope mating.. I have bred from Georgie two times and will not breed from her again..
She produced a Stud Book number Bitch, a bitch that has the expression that seems to melt everyone..
Hattie has just had a litter of pups and i have had over fourteen bitch requests and six boy requests.. There may be a recession but people still know what they would like.. I have had to put a stop on enquiries..

i think there are valid reasons why people go to a rescue for a puppy... they want to do something to help with the vast number of dogs in rescue but still quite like the idea of a puppy. They do not want to know the dog is pure labrador or pedigree of any other sort and some still don't beleive in paying so much for a puppy. Doesn't mean they aren't fab super doper homes.
mainly its that they want to help a rescue... that by getting the puppy from the rescue, they are donating to a worthy cause and getting a pupster

Indeed.
We adopted Minnie as a young pup from rescue. It was s*d all to do with wanting a "cheap pup". The initial price of a dog, whether it be from a breeder or rescue, is nothing compared to the many thousands spent caring for a dog during their life anyway.
Alongside Mins, we have adopted dogs including oldies, a large Bullbreed, an untrained/reactive Lab and a neurotic Collie. We don't "rescue" to save money Our dogs cost a blimmin fortune once they're here - not because they are rescues, but because we do everything we can to give them the best life possible

Having worked for rescue for a number of years, sadly most of the homes wanting a 8 - 12 week old puppy were homes who couldn't afford to buy or didn't want to afford to buy. So glad not all are like that. patently some aren't, but when the debate of which home is better, a free one or a rescue one, i don't think its black and white that the person wanting a pup from rescue would be better, myself. Some will, some won't. But allbreed rescue may spawn different sorts of enquiries. At breed rescue it was always for a pedigree labrador, often being very specific on their enquiry forms: Chocolate bitch no older than 12 weeks, hopefully bred by someone with children....etc...
But MORE than that, its a breeders responsibility to home their puppies, not dumping them on busy old rescues. Unless this is now something considered acceptable?? Which would alarm me greatly!!
