Hi, if you are looking for a pet, have you considered asking a rescue? Chocolate labs are out there and you would be helping out a poor sole in need of a home. If you would rather a puppy than maybe look at the kennel club site, champdogs etc, although they do seem to be around the £50" mark because once parents have all the health tests the pup cost needs to be fairly high to cover all the expenses. Do keep us posted. I hope you find a pup or dog for you
I agree with Celine though that for pet with all the health tests in place you will be looking at around the £500 mark. You've had enough heartbreak and making sure that you have a well bred puppy with the best chance of being healthy you need to choose a breeder who health tests and the cost of these tests will be reflected in the price of the puppy somewhat.
I absolutely think you are doing the right thing looking for a new pup, you clearly have lots of love to give!!
I have only just seen this post (but then I have only been here for a day). I am so sorry to hear about your Aggie and it brought back memories of Harry (who I lost at 16 weeks) and tears to my eyes. I know it can be truly heartbreaking to lose a puppy so young, it seems so unfair and such a waste of life.
I was like you and decided not to wait but started my hunt for a new puppy. Harry was a chocolate, but I couldn't bear the thought of having another chocolate boy so soon after Harry, so I have landed up with my sweet little Bella (a dark yellow/fox red). I got her about 6 weeks after I lost Harry. Although I knew she would be different, in all honesty I thought I would be replicating Harry. Unfairly on her, I spent the first 2 to 3 weeks constantly comparing her to Harry, I didn't spend as much time training her and the fact she also came down with campylobacter 3 days after getting her didn't help.
Then one day, when I realised she still wasn't really house trained and there were wee patches appearing all over the house, it was time for me to pull my finger out and I have never looked back. She is an absolute sweetheart and I wouldn't be without her. She is completely different to Harry in so many ways, but that's Bella, her own little puppy
I know everyone (and every dog) is different, but bear this in mind when getting your new puppy. Be carful not to compare her as she probably won't be like Aggie, but will be just as wonderful in her own way. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am just highlighting how I reacted with the new puppy and as I said, everyone is different
Good Luck with your search for your new puppy and I do agree with getting another even though you have only recently lost Aggie.
Steve and Jayne,im so so sorry to hear about your loss.Aggie sounded such a brave little girl and it was obvious from all your posts you absolutely adored her,she knows this this too.Bless you all, cant imagine how painful it must be.Run free little angel Aggie xxxxx
