We have a 7 year old yellow lab, hes been experiencing clicky joints the past few months, it gets worse in winter.
Does anyone have any ideas of supplements to give him to help with the stiffness?
Ive heard that omega 3 oil is a really successful treatment but not sure of a dose?

Thankyou for the advice on salmon oil, can they have what humans have or has it got to be made especially for animals?

I'd recommend Seraquin.
Hattie has salmon oil on her food too but It's only since giving her Seraquin 3 x per day that I've noticed a considerable difference in her stiffness and limping. She's got a bad hip which we are taking her to hydrotherapy to help, but I'm a firm believer that if we took her off the Seraquin she'd get worse. We've tried Joint Aid max strength and that didn't make any difference. We also had Rhymadryl from the vet and that didn't make any difference either.

This is where I buy it (or you can get it from your vet but it's more expensive)

You need the 2g tabs for a Lab.

Hi,Lottie has elbow OCD and has 2 pumps a day of Kronch Salmon Oil (I get it off Ebay in a big pump bottle.) I think it's almost identical to the Fish 4 Dogs one.

She also has Glycoflex 2 from Vet UK. Dependant on your dog's stiffness you can get Glycoflex 3 which is a higher dose. One of my older walkie dogs has these.

Go through the link on here if you buy from Vet UK (very reliable and good value company) and it will give them a donation

Edited.Just did a quick search and Kronch is over £44 with delivery for 2.5 litre. Fish 4 Dogs is £44 with delivery for 3 litre so going with F4D next time!

I'd recommend a vets visit for a check up Smile

7 isn't 'old' so there might be a lot that can be done to ease the discomfort. By all means supplement but I'd want to hear what a vet thinks of his movement, stiffness first personally Smile

I would probably also look at a physio session too, they can give you lots of info on how to self manage with massage to ease any pain in the winter.

Hi, I'd suggest Yumove - really good product contains green lipped mussel my boy has been taking it for a year now to help his joints as he has hip dysplasia and gets on really well - you can get it from Jolleys and Pets at home and they also have a website google Lintbells I can honestly see a really big difference since he's been taking it

hope this helps

l Very Happy
