This morning I took Dudley along to a Companion Show in aid of our local hospice.
I know it's not 'Crufts' but I was quite pleased with my boy - he got
3rd AV sporting dog
VHC AV open
and then in the fun classes
1st in 'best condition' (really pleased with that one )
4th in the waggiest tail
and then all the dogs who won a class went into the final .....
and he got 1st yayyyy
We won 4 rosettes. 2 bags of dog food, 6 bags of treats and a toy
WTG Dudley I do like doing Companion shows - and while it isn't Crufts, competition in the pedigree classes these days often seems to be on a par with what you get at Limit and Open shows.
Dylan recently won "the dog the judge most wanted to take home" out of about 30 odd dogs - put a big grin on my face and lots of nice prizes in our showbag
I'm surprised at how many people go tbh and also how many 'proper' show dogs there were.
I bumped into an old friend there who was with her daughter and her 3 beautiful white samoyeds. Her daughter said she'd spent 3 hours bathing and grooming them yesterday and she brushed them before every class.
She was telling me this when we were standing in the ring for 'best condition' and she asked what I did. I said 'I put his collar and lead on'
So it made us both laugh when Duds got 1st in 'best condition' - can't beat a bit of 'au natural' then

I know Wendy - I've been to a few as a competitor and also judged quite a few - and have to say the quality of dogs never seems to amaze me - I've known of a number of dogs who attended them regularly as youngsters and gone on to get JW, Show Certificate of Merits and in some instances, tickets - and there are regular competitors at all levels who attend many of our local shows - many of the faces are the same

LMAO would love to have seen the look on her face

Hope you had better weather than we did - I think we were all like drowned rats by the time we got out of the ring
