I've been feeding skinners now for several years to both my boys but recently coal has lost a little condition. His coat isn't as good and he just wasn't quite right.
I usually feed skinners plus nature diet in the morning and skinners only for tea.
After numerous discussions and thinking I've decided to try feeding orijen in the morning and skinners for tea.
I'd love to be able to feed part raw but don't have the freezer space and not sure OH could get his head round it all. So have decided orijen might be a good alternative. It smells very meaty and the boys love it.
I can't currently afford to feed just orijen and I'm happy with skinners in the main.
Does anyone else do similar?
Hopefully it Will help sort coal out.

If you wanted a happy medium then Barking Heads is worth a look, i have recently started feeding the Bad Hair Day one to my GSP pup who's prone to a dandruffy coat and he looks great. It has 52% lamb, no nasties and is around £38 a bag rather than the £50 or so for Orijen. I'm watching Leo's condition on it!
I have three different feeds on the go here - Amber is eating up the Arden Grange but will go back to Burns when thats done as shes got too stocky on the AG, Murphy has Burns Pork and Potato and Leo - Barking Heads! Hopefully i'll be able to get two on the same food soon!
I used to feed Ben on Skinners and Logie had Origen, Logie is a really fussy eater and he wouldn't eat Skinners. Well, he would if he was visiting and it was in someone else's bowl.
A few months ago Ben seemed to go out of condition too, he seemed to moult forever and just generally wasn't right. I gave him some Salmon oil from Fish4dogs and his coat and general condition really improved on that.
Logie did really well on Orijen but the downside seemed to be horrendous smelly farts so maybe it didn't agree with him? I also have a 4 month pup and I started her on Orijen but she also stinks.
I looked at the Fish4dogs food and due to the success of the Salmon Oil have decided to try all three dogs on it. So far so good but it's early days yet. A couple of years ago Ben was on Burns Organic food and it really agreed with him and as it was fish based so I'm hoping the Fish4dogs will be as good.
Back to your original question of mixing the two foods I'm sure it will be fine as my two have been on a mixture of both foods while I was finishing off both bags. I might still go back to Orijen if Fish4dogs doesn't work out.
We've started feeding ours on Orijen. Consider signing up for the breeders programme, even if you might have to exagerate slightly, the discounts are well worth it.
We struggle to put or keep weight on Zephyr as he's grown and Orijen has been the best of the lot. I don't need to feed him anywhere near as much as the feeding guide though, so be aware that there is some leeway there if that helps economically.
Between discounts amounting to making the bags about £44 and feeding less than I thought, its not been as horrible as it could have been. I've got they yellows on it and when Huds is finished the last remaining bag of Burns we have, he will be on Orijen too.
For info only - Pasco gets 2 x 120g a day and Zephyr 2 x 150g a day. Huds will probably get somewhere slightly less than Pasco I would imagine.

I have also looked into this myself for towards the end of this year, as I have heard its the best on the market and comes highly recommended from a few people.
Would be interested to hear what people have found when switching over i.e more/less poos, weight gain/loss, general condition and energy? Also those that have fed Orijen to pups how did they find it?

Definitely agree with the exaggeration for breeders schemes
I found quite the opposite with Orijen though (I know all dogs are different), I couldn't keep the weight on Melvin feeding the recommended allowance/higher... so found the cost completely unsustainable. The dogs' condition was great on it however I've found no loss of condition in switching to a considerably cheaper alternative (Simpsons salmon and potato).
It is quite expensive.. I have to say, though.. I keep my bags of food under the stairs and slowly swapped my dogs over from CSJ premium..to, Simpsons sensitive..to Orijen.. If any of them got chance to go under the stairs, they immediately went to the Orijen bag and the Hatts is blooming....
I love that they use good meats and that it is high in Protein..
I would love to feel comfortable with a cheaper food but I do not.. I don't like some of the fillers they use. My gang are now, all fed on Orijen...
Edited to add.. I liked the Simpsons but my dogs didn't seem to.. Started leaving it and being picky..
Blooming dogs..lol

We feed orijen too, I don't think it'd do any harm to mix with skinners - but i don't think you'd get the full benefit/ get away from the coat issues if it's skinners that's causing it.

They asked for my kennel name and I don't have one
Well we've been using Orijen for 5 days now and we're on to the full measure that they will get. It's roughly 40 % orijen 60 % skinners
Poops already seem slightly firmer and both boys are loving it so all good so far. Coal's coat does look a little better but that just might be my eyes! lol

I have had my two on Orijen for near on a year now, they both love it and have healthy glossy coats Ruby has 125g x 2 per day and Tom is on 150g x 2 per day.
My only gripe with it is the expense, im spending £55.99 from my local store every three and half weeks but as the quality of the food is so good I dont feel the need to add other things.
Im picking up half the amount of poo that I did before and its always very firm.
Im also a believer in you are what you eat, touch wood they both seem very healthy Tom has only ever been to the vets for castration..... I shouldnt of said that should I
