I think the stickies are a really useful resource and I refer to them fairly often Very Happy

I know that it has been said that they aren't really needed because we have a search facility, but you only have to see the number of recent threads about "should I neuter", "which food is best" and "where do you buy your collars" to see that it is definitely not being used as much as it should be!

I tend to scroll straight down the stickies without even looking at them most of the time unless a new one pops up in the "most recent posts" section. They don't offend me but I think on some of the forums where there are lots of them you can't see the wood for the trees.

Some of them seem to be a bit duplicated or out of date and I never quite understood why the MRI scan thread became a sticky on the private board.

Is there any way that stickies can be in a collapsible box or a sub forum?

I quite like the stickies, they've taken good care of me and Rufus over his first 15months in this world Very Happy
As a first time dog owner they have helped answer so many of my questions, it's be nice to find the answers to some of my dafter worries and save myself the Embarassed of actually having to write the post. I like reading through the whole thread as it has often answered my question as others have asked things all around the topic and given me several different things to try. I often use my iphone and haven't noticed them in my way, maybe its the way I navigate around the site.
I finding searching quite difficult as I don't always write the right words in and I get some very odd threads come up, totally unrelated to what I'm looking for (thats probably just me). Having the stickies means I can find things much easier Very Happy

when I first came on this forum I read every 'sticky' in the puppy and breeding sections, for me this saved so much time rathering than having to post lots of different questions

OK, I have had a little tidy up in my lunchbreak, and merged and Unstickied a few, however the rest seem to me very useful.

If anyone can see anything that could be merged with another thread can you click the report button on it and put in your description/reason why the thread it could merge with (link would be useful) and we can look at them.

Thanks

Just had a scan at the breeding section and have made some suggestions to halve the breeding stickies. And made a suggestion for one or two new ones....

But i'm a bit of a tidy freak like that too, so for me, I'm really into pruning and purges from time to time to keep things fresh.

Me too Embarassed

I find a lot of scrolling required on a comp too. I know they are valuable but sometimes less is more to have the impact.

I must admit I usually come in straight to the 'last 20 topics' page and rarely see them as the other page I frequent is 'my last topics' - you know the bit that flags up ones you have contributed to most recently... for new replies.

But I do see there are a lot of stickies especially in the health section. i think sometimes it can make puppy buyers and new owners goggle a bit and go 'jesus! really!???! i have to watch out for ALL that!' But i know the search option for previous topics isn't used as much as it could be at ALL... so....well....I'll sit on the fence on the zillion in health....
