Hi folks.

My Jessie sheds coarse individual hairs as oppose to the softer clumps.
I have tried using a Furminator from as regular as daily to as little as once a week. It does remove lots of hair but noticeably the the softer, i assume undercoat, and not necessarily the the coarser top coat (if that makes sense).
As soon as she walks back in house, she shakes & these individual coarser hairs go flying as if she's never been brushed.

Is there a better brush for removing the coarser loose top coat more effectively ??

I am not sure about what the best brush is for the coarse hair, as I don't really like removing to much from the dogs, unless they are having a big moult.

I have'nt used a Furminator, but have been tempted on occassion when it is really bad. Our two do not like the wire [slicker type] that [pull] take out loads of the undercoat, they prefer the gentle double comb or brush and will let you groom for hours. I am thinking of getting the glove for the top hair.

Having said that I am not a religous groomer, as I find like you that the hair still comes out even if I have spent ages trying to stop it, so everything in our house and car does get hairy, and I have given up the fight.

June

The furminator really is just for the undercoat.

Try a Kong zoom groom for the top coat Smile

We use a combination of the moult master, and a shedding blade, but I still have hair everywhere, so thanks for asking this, sounds like the Zoom Groom is a good one to try....can I ask, does it come in one size does anyone know?

I have a Furminator, but dont use it that often. On the face of it, with the amount of hair it appears to remove it seems wonderful, BUT, I'm fast becoming convinced that rather than removing dead hair it is also cutting living hair, so a large proportion of the collected hair would not actually have fallen out. I've gone back to using an ordinary dog comb and a rubber hound glove. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-RUBBER-DOG-CAT-GROOMING-BRUSH-PAD-GLOVE- /250865633092?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&hash=item3a68c1c744#ht_500wt_11 56

Regards, John

Thanks John, I think the rubber Hound Glove is what I need.

You'll be surprised how much loose hair it finds, and lets face it, it wont break the bank. Laughing
