Mhairi (Velvetine) and Kay (Kayc) travelled down to North Yorkshire to attend the Rydale show today. They had 2 dogs each with them and 2 of mine. Mhairi's Darcie won the lab post grad class, and her Mum Solo was placed VHC in the av veteran class, the biggest class of the day. Kay's Polly was 2nd in the lab post grad class and Hannah won the lab open class and I think got a VHC in the av gundog open. Then came my 2. Niamh was placed 2nd in lab open but the star of the day was Hamish. He won lab puppy, lab junior, got best puppy in breed and best of breed! He also won the av gundog puppy class. These were his last times in puppy classes as he turns 1 on Thursday. As the show was not based on the group system he was eligible for both BIS and BPIS. Mhairi decided not to go into these as Hamish was flagging and needed to rest. They then spent the next 55 minutes trying to get out of the showground and they still had a 3 1/2 hour drive to get home.
So pleased that my boy had ended his puppy career on a high.

Well done Hamish, he was a star.. and I wish you were there to hear the judges comments Alyson. and I quote her "I just love him" She came over to me after the challenge while I had Hannah and Hamish, and said my girl was just lovely, but Hamish had just everything that she was looking for He ended his puppy career on a great High,... oh and another JW point too but by the end of the day, withstill another 9 classes to be judged before Best in show the poor boy was really flagging.. he had been up with me since 5am and by 4pm he was snoring WE tend to forget that he is still a puppy and the 12 hours took it's toll.
correction in your post.. Hannah won the breed Open Class, and went Res in AV (not VHC) not worth mentioning really
Solo at 9.5year old took VHC in the largest class of the day with 25 entries.
