Wanted to ask about catsration. As I've been told I'm not allowed to have them PTS, it looks like we are going to be keeping 2 of the dogs puppies, alongside the 2 girls we have.
Now the question was asked yesterday about castration, and in particular chemical castration. How does this work? and if you have used ChemCast did it work.
Just bumping this up for you Martin. I'm not sure you picked the best place for it. There have been some long posts on chemical castration which should come up if you put it in the search facility, or maybe pm Helen, Barney2007.
Thanks Jill. Me and search engines don't usually get on, but I'll give it a go.
Our intentions were always to keep a girl. As we are struggling, due to time wasters, to find homes for the remaining 2 boys, we are looking at keeping them too. Hence 3 of the pups and the question of castration.
This goes back to a lot of the posts on breeding. If you are going to breed, and do not have homes for all the pups, you have to be able to look after those that remain. We don't live in a big place, but are willing to keep them.
1 girl, 2 boys, and Wispa. Hence the 2 girls and 2 boys. Actually, we have just been discussing it. OH wants to keep one of the boys, as well as the girl.

I'm really sorry if I'm reading this all wrong or have missed a previous thread, but why would you have wanted the pups to be put to sleep? Do they have something wrong with them? Is this why you are considering chemical castration over surgery? This may have a bearing on the advice that people can give you.

See my posting to Jill and the reason why we are keeping the 2 extra. As a "responsible" breeder, and as time wasters have asked for a pup and then decided last minute they don't, we have been left with 2 dog pups. Hence we will keep them.
As to the castration. I have their mum here, who has a short season. We are not looking to have her spayed yet, and hence the pups will either need to be medically or chemically castrated.
What I was after was whether anyone had chemically castrated, and whether it worked or not. I am merely looking for a solution to a POSSIBLE problem at a later date. I like to be prepared, and certainly do not want Mum to end up being mated with one of her sons. That's if they are still here in about 6 months time.
I knew you were joking too Martin. I've picked up on your weird humour .
It is a difficult place out there at the moment - who would believe that I would have a fox red bitch pup available (due to a timewaster) when in the past I could have sold thirty of them from a litter. Although I am looking for a working home which makes a difference. It looks like she is going to Sweden though if we can sort out all the travelling costs.
Times are definitely hard for everyone .

Martin, they will go, just keep plugging away. Don't give up yet, they are only tiny still, the market wants what you have they just need to hear of them! I really wouldn't think long term on keeping 4. They will go....
