OK, I clicked on the +1 button and it takes you to a google log on page. I think if you +1 something you are sending someone a notification to tell them to look at this post. It is to sort of flag it up with your friends.

Not something I'll be using I don't think. (I don't have any friends Laughing )

I believe it is for the google equivalent of facebook. Google's own social networking site so if you are a member of that and you like a post you've read on LF you can click on that +1 button and it will share on google's social network like clicking 'share on facebook' or 'like' on facebook. I'm not on google's social network so haven't tried it.
