Oh boy does Bran love going to training classes His tail doesn't stop wagging all the time that we are there and he is exhausted afterwards. Well. Usually. Today he had to come home and have a wind-down wrestle with Tucker before a snooze
He is just like a child if he is picked to be used as the demonstration dog and will look at me out of the corner of his eye to make sure that I'm watching him, then when he's brought back to me he bounces on his lead like a spring lamb as if he's saying "Did you see me?? Did you see what I did??"
Anyway. I had been considering taking him to one of the block booked evening training classes so that we could start working towards KC Bronze, but we had some good news today
The PAYG classes stop next week for the summer holidays as it's the class most affected in numbers by the kids being on holiday. When we start back in September, there will be 3 levels of PAYG classes which have to be paid for in advance now, but only 4 week and still at £20 (achievable by me!).
The 3 levels will be beginner - for puppies, new rescue dogs or adult dogs who have had no training; intermediate - for dogs that have had some training and for those who want to work towards KC Bronze (which we can do on this course!); and advanced - for those who have passed KC Bronze and want to work towards KC Silver. If we want to go on to do KC Gold, then we have to go to one of the evening groups.
I assumed that Moss would be in the beginner class and Bran in intermediate, but Jo told Sophie this morning that if she puts a bit of work into Moss over the holidays then he could go straight into intermediate! I am so proud of the pair of them!! However, we eventually decided between us that he would do beginners just for a 4 week block so that he could get used to being in a class that didn't have Bran in before he started in a class where he would have to be paying more attention, Bran or no Bran.
All in all, I'm a happy chicken today

Great news. I love your description of Bran when he is picked to do demonstrations, it made me chuckle
My boys love their training classes and when I ask "who wants to go to school" they each plead with their eyes that it is their turn. Benson has his KC silver next Wednesday and as he is being a little star at the moment I am feeling quite confident. Hope i hven't jinxed us now
Good luck with your KC classes, sounds like Bran will be up to gold standard in no time
I'm really proud of Bran as he's never done any formal training, only basic stuff at home with me, but he is by far and away the best trained dog in the class and doesn't lose his brain often enough for them to know just how bonkers he can be

WTG Bran, I loved the description of him after a demo too, they are just like kids, they want praise when they know they`ve done well, good for little Moss too, i`m sure he`ll be fine in a class without Bran, he`s a terrier, they are always alright
Seeing as how that awkward little terrier swine (Moss) was barely deigning to walk on a lead and refusing to do anything resembling a "down" when Soph started, I am sooooooooooo proud of them both whizzing through sits, downs, sit-stays, down-stays, loose lead walking, distractions, etc now

I still can't quite believe Luna managed the KC Awards - she walked OFF-LEAD around a hall to perfect HEEL with other dogs just dying to be played with at the side and humans with treat pockets and fusses to give! She was such a girly swot in classes!
