Labs and other breeds are due to be put down at a pound in Ireland, a friend is willing to drive ( I think she is as she did mention it) if anyone would foster or adopt these dogs. They are due to be put down this friday.. I am sadly not in the position at the moment to rehome otherwise I would But please please if there is anyone there willing to take on these dogs or atleast foster them until they find a home, please let me know and I will tell my friend who lives in Ireland to contact them.
Sadly, this is the reality of pound life I can guarantee that there are many more similar dogs much closer to home also waiting for a chance of a home or a rescue space, before they are put to sleep
We are sent lists of poundies by several rescues every single day, but we just don't have the facilities to take them all - nobody does

I know one of the Lab rescues takes dogs from Ireland when they can, don't know if they are aware of these, but I'm sure they're full just as anywhere else.
It is horrid seeing dogs desperately needing a rescue space, especially for the Bullbreeds who generally struggle the most to be placed
If anyone is looking to get a dog, I'd urge you to adopt from a reputable rescue where the dog has already been assessed and where you will have back-up from the rescue. This way you are giving a dog a great home AND freeing up a space in rescue for an urgent dog to come along and receive the same assessment, safety net etc.
I do hope as many of these dogs can be saved as possible, just as I hope for all the others
Are you sure these dogs aren't just up for adoption as I can only see dogs up for rehoming?
This shelter is run by the ISPCA the Irish equivalent of the RSPCA.
Sadly the Irish stray and dumped dog problem is huge and as Sarah has already pointed out we have a similar problem in the UK.
Many of our Lab rescues already take a huge number of Labradors from Ireland already.
Thank you for highlighting the problem though

If these dogs are due to be PTS what would people willing to Foster etc be required to do?? I'm asking as I cross posted it to lab rescue north west and have been asked by another member.
