I think the best place to start is ringcraft classes. Some are better than others, but as a newbie they're an absolute must. Perhaps if you say whereabouts you are someone may be able to make a recommendation.

Also your dog's breeder should be able to help you (assuming they show their dogs?). I've had a lot of help and advice from Melvin and Eddie's breeders... but we're still learning Very Happy

I can't help with suggestions in that area... you could enquire to Northumberland and Durham Labrador club, they may have some suggestions

http://www.ndlabclub.co.uk/index.html and they're also on facebook

They're a friendly bunch so I bet they could help out Very Happy

We started ring craft 2 weeks after his second vaccination. So he was just over 13 weeks I think it was. At 4months he did his first match, and we have our first big open show when he will be about 8months.
When we first started, it was just getting him used to being around lots of different dogs, and having people touching him all over.

I am really new to showing as well, but the advice I have been given is to try and get to ring craft classes. But to get ur pup used to being touched all over, by different people.
Try and practice some stands and get friends to just run their hands all over ur pup. I wouldn't try and do it too much tho cos u don't want him getting fed up or bored with it.
They need to be able to see their teeth in the ring, so everyday we have a look at his teeth. Again, don't make a big deal of it, slowly slowly.

The more different people, and new people to just run their hands all over ur pup the better, and get him to feel comfortable with that. The standing and the showmanship comes much later, but u want him to be happy in the ring with different judges.

Luther, probably a silly question, but is your dog from showlines? Smile
