I've gone with John Lewis in the end. Lifelong cover, 7k per condition a year, Unlimited per year.
15.54 a month. No point in cutting corners! It's the same price I paid for her cover this past year with Homebase who put renewal up 50pound a year and Luna has full no claims!
Now I will put dates in diary to ensure I don't let policy lapse ever again, and to ensure 14 day crossover if need to change - she has 14days in which to have no major issues now
I've dropped our cover for Hally this year - but she is nine within the policy year (the renewal had gone up to silly prices - despite only one claim in the 5 years we've been with them!!)
After 9, the excess is the base excess plus 20% of the bill - so at this point, decided it was time to downgrade for her
Thanks Sue. I decided there is still lots and lots that Luna could need lots of expensive cover for so when I found a price the same as last year - went for it. Cover is slightly better than had last year too.
I do wish they had a no claims bonus for them like they do cars it would feel like you are getting something back...
I think the whole insurance thing is a scam. They have us totally over a barrel with the "what ifs"
Flora's insurance policy was the biggest scam I ever got roped into. It was with M&S and was underwritten by AXA at the time I took it out. I also took out a policy for my old collie boy with them at the same time. We had no excess and they covered practically unlimited complementary health treatments. As Bear was suffering from oldmanitis and Flora's hips were getting bad, they could go both go for weekly hydro and acupuncture and both benefitted a lot from it. But then they changed underwriters and the excess went up to £80 (plus a large percentage of each claim because of Bear's age) and they wouldn't cover complementary stuff other than for 2 sessions before an op and 2 sessions after. As Flora had epilepsy, HD and a grade 4 heart murmur diagnosed whilst with them, as well as having a THR, her policy was costing me £60 a month - I pay less than that altogether now for 3 dogs! Just before she died, I had her renewal through and it was going to go up to nearly £80 a month
Anyway. Everyone is now insured with AXA because I liked how well they handled things as the M&S underwriters. Bran has had his ED diagnosed whilst with them so I'm stuck with them again for life but they've been really really good so far and are happy to pay my vets direct for his ongoing med costs, etc. The pups are also insured with AXA as I'm a "keep all your eggs in one basket" kind of a girl Seriously, if Tesco could offer good insurance policies for everything then I would be happy for my life to be run entirely by Tesco and Google

I liked the look of that and the fact it is one price for all - until I worked out what 5 dogs would cost on it!!! (well, really just going to do the boys - stuck with Tesco for China as murmur discovered during her time with them and Cassie I am going to go down the high interest account as her heart and eyes are excluded and a GA would probably kill her).
