Looking for Pet insurance...not happy with More Than who Milo is insured with, they keep changing terms! Anyway someone else told me NFU were good..just called and they said as Harvey is a lab he will need to be hip scored at 12 months! told them I wasn't going to breed from him but they still wanted it done?....back to the drawing board
I'm also with Direct Line, but paying nothing like that! My combined monthly total for a very old decrepit cat and the dog is only £21! I see DL are doing good deals for new customers at the moment - pity they don't extend this to current customers
We are with Sainsburys who have been fantastic. My premium is just over £22 a month but we've claimed quite a lot for bite surgery and elbow OCD treatment and x rays (total over £1500 I think) In 3 years it's only increased about £3 or £4 a month.
Cover is lifetime,£75 excess,£7000 vets fees and £2000 complimentary treatments.
I never have a problem claiming and the phone people are very helpful. I was recommended to them by a friend who has 3 labs and has claimed for virtually everything you can think of
My vet's favourite companies to deal with are Pet Plan,Tesco and Sainsburys but I would think every vet has a different opinion!
I have Indy insured with Direct Line as they gave me a good quote for the level of cover I wanted, and they are a name I trust. With Harvey, I went with Animal Friends as for him I was offered more for the same amount I pay to Direct Line (£14 a month). I have lifetime cover, and can claim up to £20,000 vets fees per year, and I have cover for complimentary therapies, and public liability etc. Excess is £85 I think. I read some independant reviews about Animal Friends online first, as I knew little about them. Everything I read seemed fine.
I never had to claim on insurance. I always find that my vet bills are the same as my excess. Still, I have it because I'd be too scared if I didn't. My husband paid out thousands on his dogs that weren't insured before I met him.
Archie and Polly are both insured under the Lifetime Extra policy from Pets at Home. The premiums are about £17 per month each and I can claim up to £9000 per year, also have cover for dental treatment, complimentary therapies and £2 million public liability. You also get a £20 PAH voucher when you take out the policy.
Rocky is with M&S - have claimed around £8,000 for hip dysplasia with no problems (though this was when they were underwritten by Axa). Just got his latest annual renewal - £395 (he's 6yo).
The others are all with Axa direct and we paid around £220 annually for Chief and Yorkie (4yo and 5yo) each, I think Busby (2.5yo) was £190 annually.
Both policies are £7,000 per year and have had no problems with them paying out within a few weeks.
