did you decide on that company.
Shirley's insurance is up for renewal at the end of July with Direct line and I'm not to sure if I need to change it. It costs me now £21.87 a month and will obviously go up again.
With this policy I get £4000 vet fees £80 or 90 excess and 1 year per condition. I'm OK with paying round about this amount BUT I think I could possible get a better deal than this and can't really afford too much more.

I have only claimed once when she was 7 months old and claimed £300ish.

Who do you use?

Why did you decide on them?

What should I look for?

I have been with DL since Tommy was a baby so 10 years so I'm a little green behind the ears.
I have done a quick search on the comparison sights and it blew my mind.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLIES AS ME, SHRIL AND MY HUBBY ARE GOING AWAY FOR 6 DAYS FIRST THING TOM MORNING. TOMMY'S GOING TO HIS NANNY'S.

None, i don't use insurance companies. Instead i have a credit union account which i pay weekly too and also i average what Alfie's insurance is a month and add that on. At present i have more than enough to cover, god forbid it happening, a few major operations. And thats only in year as he was insured for the first year. The plus being is what i have saved can be doubled if required it and i don;t need worry about excess's the moneys there to cover anything.

I paid Madison's insurance all her life and yes towards the end of her life i needed it...but what they paid out didn;t cover half of what i paid in premiums in her short 7years 10 mths of life.

I was with Direct Line for years, but then the amount at renewal went through the roof and as I had never made a claim for either of them, I had Twix and Roly with DL for years before that, when Twix was 14 I was paying £35 a month for her, including liability insurance etc!

I am now with Argos sounds about the same benefits as DL and i have the premium cover for both of them and will continue to do so, ( Jana is 3 1/2 and Cori 2 years 9 months - both spayed), total each month is less that £20 for both of them Very Happy Excess on Argos is a lot less that DL's at the time of renewal is was going up to £100 ish with DL and Argos i think is about £60
Very Happy

I use John Lewis.
I get £7000 in vet fee's with a £75 excess.
I get £2000 complementary therapies
I have claimed a lot for Diesel and never had a problem getting the money back from them. They will also pay direct to my vet if i needed them too.
I have life time cover for both boys so i know Diesel's HD is covered.

im with argos its £20 a month and thats for £6000 per condition/per yr and thats lifetime cover so the amount is reset every yr to cover ongoing conditions.excess is £65. have only had it three months and not had to use it(touch wood) so will see how much premiums go up next yr. i like the idea of just putting money away in a savings account but would be scared incase something major came up and we didnt have enough.

I'm with Petplan, always have been.

They're not the cheapest, we pay £33 ish for each of our girls per month, and it does tend to go up a little each year (although we are always claiming for one thing or another Sad )

I've never had any issues with claims and they pay within a couple of weeks, they even paid out for Sophie's treatment with the behaviourist which I was really impressed with Smile

I couldn't change now even if I wanted to as Pen and Mils are past eight and I doubt they'd be accepted for new insurance, especially with Millie having Eplilepsy and being on lifetime medication and Penny possibly about to be diagnosed with Thyroid problems.

I'm with Direct Line and am now stuck with them because of likely exclusions if I went elsewhere.

They are very good when it comes to claims and I have found them quite competitive pricewise. We have £7000 cover per condition over the lifetime of the dog with £80 excess. Coco is nearly 3 and my policy was £11 first year (discounted from £16 per month as as introductory offer), £20 the second year and £22 this year.

I've claimed twice with Coco and once with a previous dog and had no problems, though this winter claims were taking a while to process. My vet will take payment direct from them so I don't have to shell out first which is good.

Try NFU ( National Farmers Union)

Woody is £23 per month, each cond covered for life, upto £4000 per year. £50 excess, plus liability.

Murphy,s is much more, around £30. Because of the claims we've made recently that have mounted up to well over £2000.

NFU have been fantastic.

Any insurance is a gamble.

We are with John Lewis -we pay a bit more, but they have paid out with absolutely no fuss at all and very quickly. (even when the vet made a mistake and stuck something totally unrelated on the form!!).

Also seem to have really nice people answering the phones - makes such a change!
