Now, this is something I have more recently learnt about Sam.
Not all breeders register the litter straight away, some wait until the litter is over the "danger" period and until it would be highly unlikely for them to lose a puppy, sometimes even as late as 4/5 weeks old before doing the KC registration, other simply leave it that late as there is no rush to get the litter registered. So it could be that a search on the KC site would not produce anything.... does that make sense?
Oh ok i wouldn't have given him the orginal either.
Re the adoption Di and angela are talking about - I agree with Di, I have not adopted a dog myself but know various who have and I have had GUI Dalits and a rabbit from rescues and you never legally own the animal you are obligated to pay for it and own it in that sense but you are the adoptive 'owner' that rescue still have rights should they choose tk turn up and remove the dog they can.
I would not be happy buying a puppy with clauses. Lucy - not all have endorsements - mine don't (well fern I'm not 100% sure but don't think she does!). I wouldn't mind a breeding Claus - as long as kne could lift it wu relevant health tests. As for a Claus allowing the owner to take the dog back (not them offering if the need artists - that is excellent and most breeders should do that), I would not be happy - what is to say you don't get blnasty people telling lies but also some people in the world are far to drippy and soppy about some animals, what's to say they don't like the fact, say I, treat my dog as a dog? Where do you draw the line? When is it deemed necessary to reclaim a dog or not? I wouldn't be happy with that at all.
Apologies to Martin as I know he didn't start this thread to discuss rescue, but I just wanted to post again about adoption contracts as they've been mentioned a few times.
Yes, rescues generally have a statement in adoption contracts to protect the animals they are rehoming, but for the vast majority of dogs adopted, this will never be needed as rescues work very hard to place the right dog with the right owner(s).
Most rescues have enough worry with a constant waiting list of dogs to come into their care when a space is freed up and don't have the inclination to go and remove dogs from loving homes on a whim . If they were to receive a malicious report, or even a genuine one, of course this is something they would look into, just as I'm sure a breeder would should they receive similar about a dog they had sold, but no-one wants to remove a dog without good reason.
A good rescue will be there to take the dog back should the home no longer be able to keep them, for whatever reason, just as I'm sure a good breeder will be, but ultimately we all want dogs to find wonderful homes and stay in them
I have my bitches folders ready with all documenst in to show any new puppy buyer when they come to view the pups. That includes all health tests and pedigree etc etc.
Rach I understand why you wanted to research your new girls pedigree before you decided where to get her from, anyone wanting to do the show/breeding line would these days.
Surely this all can be viewed on line now anyway. Also if someone wants to see the pedigree I can email it to them, but most of my homes are pet homes so they are happy to look at my folder when they come to see babies.
