HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I managed to get sunburnt on Sat when it felt like the sun barely made it out from behind the clouds! Luna preferred the breezier, drizzlier bits of Saturday opposed to the HOT, HUMID and hideousness of today's weather!
Saturday
Primary Triple A agility was first up and I nearly missed walking it - sooooo tired so not very switched on! We learnt we need to practise having a jump placed wing on to the preceding jump. I was on the wrong side so Luna back jumped it. Good bit - I called her to go left and she did! Twice E'd.
Primary Agility next. Nice course, we passed the trap onto the dog walk with a neat bit of Laura blocking but then messed up the pull through between 2 jumps - normally easy! So something to revise in training! Good bits - lots of right and left directions given by me and obeyed by Loon! E'd.
Intro Helter Skelter - lovely flowing course, Luna ran it really quickly after completing a FOUR JUMP recall over the first 4 jumps in almost a straight line CLEAR! Placed 28th but 2nd Medium height dog
Intro Jumping - another lovely course with another 4 jump recall to start CLEAR! Placed 33rd but 3rd Medium height dog
Sunday
Primary Jump and Touch. A lovely clear round until the last obstacle - A'frame. She jumped the contact This is the 2nd time she's jumped the contact on the final obstacle so I must be doing something different or she's realised there is nothing ahead except the exit so is running it differently for some reason..... So 5faults and a 16th place.
Primary Agility - a lovely flowing course and a lovely CLEAR round!!! Placed 15th.
Intro Tunnel Torment - she was tired and hot. It was midday, we were ready for lunch snacks and a break in the shade! CLEAR and I THINK 16th place-although that seems high for such a slow run, I may have written that down wrong
Every year there is a group of children visit from Chernobyl. They stay with host families for a month each year for 5 years and this short time away from their radiation ruined home is hoped to extend their lives to a near normal span. They visit and the show asks for volunteer dogs for them to run in a friendly comp. Luna was run by a girl hosting one of the Chernobyl visitors and she ran her brilliantly - the best quickest run of the day in fact! She came joint 2nd! Was lovely to see her run for someone else and for that someone else to be a youngster too! I liked stepping back and watching her enjoy her agility!
I wasn't sure after all of the weekends heat and excitement whether Luna would want to run the last - Intro Jumping. I missed walking the course due to the award ceremony for the visiting children so we headed over to see if it was nice. It was. A 4 jump recall AGAIN!!! I ran with her motivational football toy in my hand and she ran!! So fast she cut a corner a bit tight and knocked a pole. So 5faults and 45th place - I think!
So 4 clear round rosettes and a 2nd place for her other handler this weekend = Pooped Pooch! (and handler, who should really be smothering on after-sun and sleeping right now!)
