It can be difficult for a new dog to fit into a new family so I would advise you give it time and not give in too soon. Molly settled in like a dream but the night Gus arrived we thought Satan had come to town. We know now that he was just really stressed by the situation but he spent the first couple of days chasing Molly and nearly took a chunk out of my leg when she hid behind me. They all get along great now but it did take time. I remember thinking that we couldn't keep him but I am so glad we did.

I'm sure the right dog for you is out there somewhere.

Norma

Another one who seconds the fostering idea - gives you a chance to see the dog in a home environment, gives the rescue a chance of an honest report of the dog, and as you have been through it before you know it can take time for a dog to find the right home and you are playing your part in helping it on its way. If you fall in love then a great ending but if not then you will have helped a dog a lot.

(if you decide to go down the non-lab route let me know as I have the perfect dog here! Cat Friendly, Dog Friendly, brilliant recall even when out of sight, child friendly, 99% housetrained, travels beautifully even with my boxer bouncing on him, knows which dogs are to play with and which are to be treated with respect...... )

hmm - he knows to not play with the Littles but then he has the Bigs to play with..... He stayed with a friend over the weekend and knew to not play with Diesel but was ok with the others...... may not be a good idea if there is only 1 other dog as he will assume playtime and be a pest at first....

so back to the foster suggestion!
