I learned the hard way with Madison, she was the pill dodger from hell and no matter where it went she always managed to give it back to me. Crushed in her food she didn;t touch the food...lol. So i learned tohold her mouth open and drop so far back she couldn;t get it back up and had to swallow...lol

Have only used that technique once with Alfie as any other time the he just takes it out of your hand then waits for his treat...lol
If only ear drops were that easy... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Had no problems getting Harvey to munch his tablets Laughing

If I did then would probably hide it in a piece of sausage or cheese Smile

Indi takes them straight from my hand. We get her to do a high five and give her a normal treat then do something else and give her the wormer! Or we just go do you a treat and really hype her up like its going to be amazing and she`ll take it. There has only been 1 incident where she wont take it and thats because they apparently taste awful so i gave her a bit of sliced cheese and then wrapped the tablet in the next bit an voila gone!! Also try a bit of sausage! Those are the only ways we do it but like i said Indi is amazing at taking tablets we have never had to revert to prizing open her mouth, clamping it shut and rubbing the chin to get her to swallow as she has always been a good girl for us with pills.

Cadbury doesn't have it in his mouth long enough to taste it, so I just bundle one in with some treats and feed them like they are something special.

Merlin is the crafty one Rolling Eyes Last time I broke the tablet into four and rolled butter around it so it would taste good and slide down. The fact that Cadbury wanted to eat it also added a bit of competition to the event, which always helps Wink

Coco can swallow biscuits whole and pieces of carrot don't touch the sides but a quarter of a tablet can be separated out from any piece of sausage, sandwich, cheese etc.

She had some ABs last week so I used the "poke it down the throat" method which works very well for us. I didn't quite poke one far enough down so she spat it out, had a sniff and a lick then picked it up and munched it Rolling Eyes

I won't buy the milbemax chewable ones because she would probably spit them out, I just poke the normal tablet down instead.

I treat it like a treat too. I get Shea to sit, and then throw it to him (like i do with tintbtreats), he catches and chomps away like its one of his normal treats, d thats the way our vet recommended too.

My old Border Collie was a nightmare with tablets so I used to cut a slice of a Nutrigrain bar (don't know if they still make them, and stick it in the jammy middle bit...no problem.) I have used a slice of ham rolled into a ball though.

Lottie just takes them like treats normally or if she is having a fusspot day, they go on the back of her tongue and I shut her mouth and stroke her throat to make her swallow.

George is really good and will just eat them, but my vet gave me a flavoured wormer last time and not milbemax, and he took it as a treat but then spat it out so I coated it in marmite and that worked a treat.

We stick the tablet in a bit of sausage - feed it to the dog and follow it up quickly with some normal bits of sausage. Our dogs are so keen to get the next bit of sausage that the one with the pill in doest even touch the sides.
