Just to update - my homecheck went very well and they brought one of the foster dogs with them to see how we interacted.

So I am happy to report we are now on the approved list as suitable adopters. So we are off to see Shadow again tomorrow - who is quite adorable 2 years old very happy with dogs but a little shy around humans - she became braver with each bite of sausage - oh yes a food orientated girl !

Exciting times ahead. Now off to read up on building confidence ..

Just an update on the Home-check, i e-mailed my contact a couple of weeks ago and she said that she had passed on the message to the home-checker and she would be in contact with me, but as of today we haven't heard anything at all, not having been home-checked before means I'm not sure how long the process takes and so i don't want to seem pushy, by keep nagging! So I guess a shall just wait and see, thanks for all the advice/comments Very Happy

If I had passed contact information for a potential family on to a homechecker and they had not heard by now I would be worried.... I know different rescues have different policies but having been in the situation of a homechecker assuring me that she would go as soon as the snow cleared and the roads were driveable I passed the info on to the family, we had snow here so did not worry too much until they rang to say the roads had been clear for nearly a week and they had heard nothing. Chased homechecker up and she said she would contact them, rang them 2 days later and not heard....... in the end got a different homechecker.

I do homechecks myself so although all that is from the rescue view of things I am not having a go at homecheckers!

I would suggest ring the contact and point out you are still waiting for the homechecker to get in touch - you should at least have had a phone call (it may be they have the wrong number written down for you) ..... the rescue people may have it in the "pending" file and are simply waiting for the result to come through.

Good luck.

I always get in touch as soon as I get a request even if I can't visit straight away. I would definitely chase it. You may not want to seem pushy but at the same time you don't want to look like you're not bothered. Just go for it.
