I have been gobsmacked by the latest description of Chocolate Lab puppies from 2 Chocolate parents as DOUBLE CHOCOLATE puppies! and TRIPLE CHOCOLATE puppies - if one of the Grandparents was also Chocolate!
This is a description I have seen now by several different breeders! Bl**dy H*ll, whatever next!
Rant over now, I must get back to my dogs - single Choc, double Black, triple Choc, double yellow, triple Black and quadruple Black!
oh... you'll love this.. at my test i over heard some people discussing chocolate labradors. Apparently if you bred two chocolates together you'll get pale chocolates as the colour is diluted. you need a black in there to keep the chocolate colour strong!
one assumes if you bred two black labs you'll end up with those silver ones people like!

A commonb phrase is 'parents are pure chocolate'. Meaning in their minds, both parents are chocolate and both THOSE dogs parents are chocolate
Another one is when someone has a stud dog and they advertise him as STRONGLY carrying chocolate (or yellow - or even black!!! Ha ha!). he either carries it or he doesn't.... strongly need not apply!
There are many funny phrases
Others include 'throws big litters' (as regards sire.... when, infact, the bitch determins the number of puppies...) or 'throws girl heavy litters' (when over the course of 1000 puppies he would throw an equal amount of girls and boys he just hasn't yet had 1000 puppies! grin!)
All marketing. But as a Marketing Manager in real life you have to take your hat off to the mixture of salesmanship and ignorance

as a chocolate lover - this post sounds very yummy! (triple choc...yum sounds like an ice cream!)
It does annoy me to see this type of advertisements though - my hubby still occassionally says GOLDEN - god I could kick him..... I correct him EVERY time.
Perhaps its a case that people just refuse to be educated?

I thought exactly the same!
someone told me my Labrador s were NOT pedigree as they didn't come from same colour parents As Bea comes from black + chocolate and Lux comes from black + yellow??? they do have good working pedigrees.
Is it stupidity or ignorance?
