Boo was a Tippex baby - One Spot. Her siblings were Left Ear, Right Ear, Two Spots, Head Spot and No Spot Laughing and it seemed to work fine!

Just out of interest, does Mum ever try to get the collars/ribbons off, or do they generally just accept them?
Nic

Edited to add that it is such good news to hear Holly is accepting the pups and everything seems more positive for you all.

Nic,

Thats funny, we tend to have every year a hip boy, shoulder girl, head boy, front foot, back foot and tail Wink Wink Years later I can get a call from someone talking about 'Poppy' and all I can see is 'shoulder girl' Wink

I've been reading; and wasn't going to contribute because of course I can't offer any experience, but I just wanted to say your posts don't come across like that at all Di. I'm sure it's been very reassuring to have someone say "You dont need to worry so much", rather than "don't take your eyes off them for a minute."

I'm glad Holly and pups are doing well Very Happy

Thank you Jane, I know what I worrying time it is when it all doesn't go smoothly and didn't want to add to the load by being flippant sounding. Appreciate your post.

Hi again, just wanted to let you know that happily things seem much better now - the pups are 5 days old and all seem happy and are feeding well. Holly is generally much more relaxed and has definitely bonded with them which is a huge relief – she’s currently snoring away in her whelping box with all her babies cuddled up - bless!

Di – your posts have definitely reassured me and been really helpful. I was so worried about everything the first few days which, combined with the lack of sleep, I’m sure meant she was picking up on my worried vibes. Like you say, she needs to feel settled and learn to be a good mum herself so I’m really trying to relax now, catch up on sleep and enjoy the experience Smile

Fortunately she hasn’t shown any aggression to them since the first night when she growled. Now and again she seems a bit stressed at times when they start crying and she can’t settle them straightaway as she whines then jumps on the sofa and starts scratching it to death! Other than that though she’s really happy cleaning them and when they climb over her face/ears/ mouth she just licks them or pushes them over to their brothers/sisters.
So I feel it’s much less likely she would attack them now and the ‘eyes open 24/7 shifts with military precision’ (vets words) is a little OTT. I’m sleeping next to them and listening out but trying to get some much needed shut eye too!

Thanks for the posts on collars/weighing. I’m liking the pup-id one, very cute!

Martin – thanks for your advice, must have been very worrying Wispa not eating/drinking and glad to hear she had double breakfast today!!

Bye for now, Karen

Pleased to her Holly is settling down to motherhood. If it's any consolation, Wispa is digging the sofa too, and under shrubs, dug one of my ferns up, corner of walls in the garden. Not quite sure why. Obviously doesn't like the whelping box and wants to move.

It's amazing how quickly they settle into the routine of feeding and washing.

i have had to travel to Norwich on business for a couple of days, so I am getting some much needed shut eye. Bit drastic I think Very Happy Very Happy
