I'm thinking of getting some agility kit to allow us to do more practice at home to feed our new agility addiction. Can anyone recommend any suppliers or particular items of kit that are worth getting? I don't want to spend a fortune, but don't think my DIY skills are up to creating my own!

They've got the basics in pets@home you can buy individual pieces like a jump, weave poles etc.

I bought ours from amazon though we've got weave poles, a trixie single jump and a tunnel. The agility tunnels are expensive though so we got a children's one and that works just fine. Sam doesn't like ramps so we didn't buy a seesaw!

We've got the Clix tunnel and 2 sets of Clix weave poles (so full set of 12 poles) and 2 trix jumps. All of these can be packed away in their own bags so they are transportable and put away able! I just ordered them online from whoever was cheapest when searching.

I don't have the space for contact equipment now but would love some! We make do with a scaffolders plank propped on 2step high wall so that when Luna walks down it I can give her the 'on it' command in the appropriate place! Seems to work for us 95% of the time!

The tunnel will be coming out tomorrow so that I can practice sending her in the right or left end of a u-shape - something that let us down last comp. Every so often I have a weave blitz - set them up and walk her through approaching from different angles, with me on different sides, just once or twice as we pass through the garden. The jumps I get out to practise right/left directions or mix up with weaves so that she can practise entering them ahead of me. With one jump we'll practise me sending her over, me telling her to 'come round'. I haven't run out of ideas yet and what we fail on in comps/at training inevitably gives me more ideas!

I'm fairly new to agility too and have just ordered some jumps and weave poles from a shop on eBay. They arrive tomorrow so will let you know what sort of quality they are.

I went for weaves as it seems to be moles biggest challenge Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. For those who have jumps and weave poles, how do yours fix into the ground? I have a Clix jump with poles that screw into the ground and with the hard ground at the moment it is almost impossible to secure! Was hoping to find something easier...

The weave poles do screw in... hmm yes hard ground could cause a problem.... the Trix jumps just have a spike to push in and the tunnel is pegged down.

I think there are weave poles you can get in a stand but that would still need pegging down...

Try looking through: http://www.agilitynet.com/ the Fleamarket section at the top. You might find more solid second-hand bits for sale.

If you have a look on Agilitynet they have a fleamarket where people sell 2nd hand equipment which is usually competition standard. If you want to get a tyre at any time, don't get the 'lifebouy' type ones. They have been the cause of some nasty injuries and are being replaced by soft ones now. Smile

Thanks for all the tips. I've now ordered some kit from a company on ebay - some jumps and some weave poles. Keeping fingers crossed that they are good quality!
