I know that the EMDAC had to put up a great big fight to ensure that people and dogs entering non-KC agility comps weren't disqualified from entering future KC agility shows. http://www.baa.uk.net/about_baa.html Scroll down to read story.

Taken from part of the link
Statement From The Kennel Club September 2003

"Unlicensed Agility Shows:
The Kennel Club reiterates that it will not take action against any participants at unlicensed Agility Tests.

That statement was made in 2003.. The following year the rule book including the element I quoted in my previous post.. The KC will NOT take any action against participants.

Clare has said this was a game fair.. I think it pretty fair to suspect the secretary would know exactly which licenses would be required, and there is the highest chance that this show was licensed..

Clare, go back for the challenge.. I know I would

and that photo you e-mailed to me of my baby Melvin and his trophy.. post it on here.. if you don't want to brag.. I do Laughing Laughing

What a minefield the world of showing seems to be!

Lorna, I'm sure it's not really... I just like to know every little rule/regulation/permutation, and obsess over it, even when it doesn't matter one iota... like this one Laughing

Interesting thread. I dont show my dogs at official KC events but do like to participate in companion shows or fun dog shows (unsure of the difference...but they all have waggiest tail and the like!)

Anyway Melvin, Cookie and I went to a dog show today. I feel it was probably unlicensed (no mention that it was on the flyer) there were classes for pedigree bitch/dog and also handsome dog and prettiest bitch, best condition dog and best condition bitch (which to me... in a fun show these classes are on and the same but were entered on the schedule as six seperate clasess)

The bitch that won pedigree bitch is shown and her owner is a judge (apparently judges all breeds and has been doing it for years) I noticed his dog had clipper rash on its neck which initially led me to believe the dog had, had a blood test taken however he said oh no I clip my dogs myself (he breeds as well).

This bitch later became best in show. I felt the bitch won because the owner was a judge. Personally, I feel a dog with clipper rash (and pinpricks of blood) on its neck is NOT in its best condition and shouldnt have won (fun show or not!).

We had lots of fun however and came home with lots of rosettes - and hopefully the charity did raise alot of money (I know I spent alot!).

Melvin got First, for "the dog the judge would like to take home". I was chuffed to bits with him, Cookie who was handling him was really surprised, shocked and pleased all at the same time!

interesting thread though! Fun shows should be just that ! (we are tired and Melvin is now asleep)
