For the 2 dogs with a £7K cover PA per dog for Maia and Molly it's £37.62 per month which is brilliant, going to work out what Jack will be on DL on his own.

Right well I have now saved myself £20 a month by keeping Jack on DL at £44.35 a month due to ongoing claims and the other 2 together on John Lewis premum at £37.62
It's definately worth shopping around

I'd be recommending the vetsmedicover to my puppy buyers this time: £18/month, £10000 vet fees/year and lifetime cover with no mad increases when the dog gets older.

Just before Flora died, I had her renewal through and it was due to go from £60pm to £75pm I'd concluded the same as you: the hip that had been replaced wasn't going to cause any more problems and the hip that hadn't been was only ever likely to need managing with Metacam or similar, so I was going to move her over to AXA (which is who Bran and the pups are insured with) and just deal with any HD related costs if and when they arose. It is obscene how much they can charge
I now pay £40pm for these 3, and that's including Bran's costs for his ED

Pet insurers will price themselves out of the market at this rate, then, we`ll be back as it used to be, no one has insurance and vets charge everyone the same for treating their pets, not one price for non insured with inflation for the insured one!.

This concerns me greatly Mary as there will be so many dogs who have HD severe enough to need a hip replacement and lead a near normal life, who will unfortunately have to be PTS young as people won't be able to afford the op (We were told that by 2 years old, Charlie would be so bad that would be the only option)
Thats exactly what More Than did when we had our St Bernard. As soon as he hit 9 yrs of age his insurance premium went up to £186 per month! We had hardly ever claimed on it either and he had no joint/hip/serious problems either.
