Same here I didn't buy my Flimmoric to work but sort of ended up working him. Although to begin with he didn't even retrieve. Then got bitten by the bug so the second bitch had German blood in her and wanted nothing else but to work.
The hairy beasties were just starting when I left the breed really. I couldn't replace my bitch with anything with German blood so I ended up with a Labrador.
Wish you the very best with your planned litter. I'm guessing they have quite large litters like Weimy's so you could have your hands full  .
