The salmon oil has a 3 month expiry date once opened, even with 2 dogs I could never use a large one up

I used to buy from fish 4dogs too, mine used to get 15ml a day each, so for 13 weeks 2.7L.....at which point I did just just use the last 300ml in the big box, what harm can 10days out of date do anyway, it's just oil? It's not like the smaller bottles are vacuum sealed anyway.

Mine both lived to tell the tale of my penny pinching anyway Laughing

Thanks to all for the very good info, I will be getting some salmon oil to add to the kibble asap, and as Hayley says, think it will be a spoonful for Pen and a spoonful for me!!!! Very Happy

When the lamb kibble is finished I might still swop over to the salmon, but as we have a full bag left, if the salmon oil does the trick I will stick with the lamb because it is considerably cheaper.

Can I recommend Lintbells Yumega Oil. Our rescue girl Mae came to us with her coat in a terrible state and very itchy. This oil has worked miracles she is so shiney and her coat is lovely and thick now and she hardly ever scratches now Very Happy . I think its about £14 for a month's supply. We mix it in with her kibble 5ml in her morning food and 5ml in the evening and she's fine with it. Very Happy

I fed some of the Arden Grange salmon dry food for a while and I do think it had a nice effect on the coat.

Our vet advises to use fish oil rather than cod liver oil (someone else mentioned this too). I currently use Yumega Plus as it's good for itchy and sensitive skin and that contains salmon oil. I do think it has helped with Minnie's skin.

If anyone ends up with oil left over that they are not going to use, a local rescue might be glad of it rather than throwing it away Smile I got some Yumega Cat oil, which also contains salmon oil, recently because it was just coming out of date, but they said it was good for six months afterwards, so I took some to the local rescue who were glad of it Smile

Angela, who quite often uses out of date things Smile

Do you use the Yumega Dog or Yumega Plus? We started off on the Dog as I could buy that locally but then bought the Plus for Minnie's skin and as above, I do think it's helped. Tis her on their page too (though I was using it before that appeared!) Proud mum moment.

I've purchased some of the Fish4dogs salmon oil, I really liked the look of the Kronch, but was swayed that Fish4dogs used farmed salmon as the wild salmon is classed as under threat, but I like the sound of wild over farmed.....but hey-ho.....I try to do my best by all creatures great and small.
Have developed a headache working out value of lamb kibble and salmon oil OR salmon kibble and no oil...my OH says I have too much time on my hands Laughing Laughing
Either way I will let everyone know how the salmon oil goes. Excellent idea about passing on to a rescue centre any leftovers, we used to do this with insulin which went ''out of date'' before we had chance to use the full amount on our diabetic cat. Apparantly the vet said that the use by dates do not always mean the product is no good , so always worth bearing in mind.

Angela, just checked out the Yumega Plus and saw the picture of Minnie, she looks radiant Very Happy no wonder you are so proud! x
