Hi all

When I recently had to replenish our dog food stock I went for a different flavour of the same brand (JWB).

His poos have been looser and he's particularly windy too.

Can a simple change in flavour cause this?

Yes - I would have thought so. Different flavour means different ingredients.

Yes it can, cos it's not just a flavour you have changed! It is an ingredient, a different meat. Wink

My girl was on lamb AG, when I noticed a bit of dandruff, I changed to chicken AG and she became very windy. Am now looking at salmon and hoping this will sort out both problems and suit her better. I don't like chopping and changing but feel we haven't quite got the right food for Pen yet.
As other posts have said, it is different ingredients so it does make sense I suppose....

Definitely - JWB duck and rice goes straight through Millie, but the lamb and rice is great.

Funnily enough - I have just rescued a 6 month old girl and was told she was on JWB puppy and asked the question of the rescue which flavour - response was " doesn't matter" - so I got the Turkey and Rice kibble put it the food box and when she arrived she came with a little food sure enough its JWB but Lamb and Veg. Day 1 I gave her what she was used to and we had firm poo. We've increased the Turkey and rice so as not to waste it with the Lamb over the last two days and we have had lots of smelly wind and a huge amount of not very nice poo.

So yes it can make a big difference. Back to Lamb and Veg I think.

Funny enough even a new SACK of the SAME food can cause them problems if they are even vaguely stomach sensitive. One tweek in the ingredients at the factory, a bit more of this, a bit less of that can throw them. A day or so on though and its all back to planet normal.

yes def.

We had Dylan on Royal Canin Puppy which he was great on. Tried three times to change him over to the adult but it gave him terrible diarrhoea. Had to change brand completely in the end.

YES definately, as others have said its a different protein that presumably doesn't suit Otis, I'd go back to the previous flavour assuming he was ok on that. Smile
