" showed my first dog in 1987 and didnt win my first RCC until 2009, its that easy!! "
I can echo that! I had showed dogs since 1994 and took 5 years to get my first stud book number even! It took 14 years to get my first Res CC!! Mind you its taken 16 years of running in working tests to get my first Open test win! Maybe we are just slow maturers Jo!
" And Di Bolly or Dom??? "

Got Hattie's stud book number after two years campaigning her but started showing over five years ago.. I just don't think some people realize how many miles and effort it all takes...
Showing to me is just a chance to be able to show others how proud I am of my dogs.. some love them, others, maybe not. If we all loved the same dogs, it would be a waste of time for quite a few.
And, I'm sure you'll agree, showing them yourself and getting the accolades is much better than having someone else show your dog for you.
Just as training your own dog for these field sports and getting awards for that is very special.
congratulations to everyone on the results. TBH i really dnt understand the results (stud book number is that to do with breeding as i thought studs were breeding males).
but huge congrats and i can imagine the time and effort it takes xx

That is just so true..
Hattie is a none wagger and i had a very special friend, and a really good handler, take her in PG to see if he could make her wag.. he couldn't. She won the class but i took her in the limit class and we got her stud book number.
I have always shown my own dogs, mistakes and all but i know that their placings are due to them and not me..
Georgie once stopped for a huge poo, right in the middle of her triangle...
Showing is always down to opinion. We all differ on that and thank goodness we do...

Couldn't agree more! I know there are some circumstances which means that other people end up showing your dog, i.e. you have two dogs in the same class, you are experimenting with handling, you can't due to physical restrictions etc. but simply getting someone else to show your dog particularly when they are a 'face' really gets my goat!!!
