Roly is a 6 month old chocolate labrador and is currently on foster in Cornwall
The Roly Fact File
Dog status: adores other dogs and would love a home with calm, relaxed canine company
Cat status: Very good
Child status: Could be rehomed with dog savvy children 8 years plus if they understood his limitations
House training: Good
Home alone: He loves company and would like a new home where someone is home for the best part of the day
Basic training: Coming along nicely
Roly is not your usual chunky, robust labrador puppy (just yet!). He is the sweetest, quietest, most laid back puppy in the whole world with a very lovely nature.
Sadly, Roly has hip dysplasia in both his hips. He is looking for a very special owner who is willing to take him on despite this condition and allow him to bloom and develop in his own way.
Roly still needs help with his house training and will need a home where someone is with him for the best part of the day.
Roly is in foster with other dogs and cats who he is well behaved with. He would love a home with canine company as long as they were not too boisterous for him.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
Well, I've been in my new foster home for a while now and I've been having lots of fun. My foster sis is very funny - I call her Silly Millie 'cos she does run around and do daft things!!
My poorly tummy got better quickly - my mummy said it was because I had eaten too much. I do like my food and can get into the food bin if I use my teeth on the lid! If I eat my food very quickly I try to eat Millie's too - but mummy tells me off. When she says 'no' I am very good and I listen to her. Then she tells me I'm a good boy - I like that.
When I got here I wasn't very sure about my foster dad - sometimes men scare me a bit but I am getting used to him now. The thing is, my foster mummy is here all day with me and I like that. If she goes shopping, I have Millie and Mac ('gramps') to keep me from being afraid - I really don't like being on my own for long.
I like playing with toys and there are lots here - Millie and I like to play together in the playroom dining room.
This is me and Millie with our toys.
Millie loves me I think - she's always whispering....
Gramps does not really like to share his toys but he lets me play with him if I'm careful
I am very good at asking to go to the garden now - mummy has something called a 'dog loo' there. I don't think she expects me to sit on it, but I would if I could!
Mummy says I am very handsome and she said I have a smile that 'only a mother could love' - not sure what that means but I know that she loves me lots.
I have to go back to the Vet soon - I had some pictures taken to check my legs when I lived with mummy Stella. My new mummy says that I might have to go to swimming lessons - I hope Millie comes too 'cos then I can duck her under the water (hee hee).
Well, that's all for now. Mummy is taking me for a little walk now. I can't run around the fields with Millie but I like to walk next to Mac 'cos he's slow.
What an absolutely beautiful write up, I hope someone comes forward to rehome him, he is a little sweetheart.
For those thinking about it, I took on a rescue with HD, it doesn't always have to mean an operation, the condition can be managed without surgical intervention

My foster mum said that I should do another update – I’ve been so busy lately that I keep forgetting to do it!
Today I went to visit my foster dad at work. Mum says he is something called a ‘Royal Marines Commando’, whatever that means as if I’m meant to be impressed!
Anyway, he works in an office and there are lots of other men there and they all wear the same. They look a bit like trees but I resisted doing the obvious………!!
My foster dad runs ‘Hasler Company’ and mum explained to me what that is – it’s where all the injured and ill Royal Marines go to get better. It is more complicated than that, but I couldn’t understand what she was talking about!! Some of them have poorly legs, a bit like me, and so they were all very nice to me. I did show off a bit by showing them my training – mum said I was very good!
I think I’ll go back there again as my mum thinks it’s good for me to make new friends and get more confident.
Here is a picture of me and my foster dad in his office.
I’ll write more soon – promise!
